Experimenting with Mayco Jungle gems over honey flux

On white stoneware fired to cone 6

Fav was still Blue Caprice . But

Berry tart
Gogh Iris

Definitely worth using again, possibly on Christmas ornaments

Not all worked, some had crazing and faded at cone 6

My current fav thing is carving, it starts with leatherhard clay covered in blue slip

Timing matters

And just give it a go, remember it's the process not about being perfect.

Latest Kiln Opening

Lots of different designs

it always has cool retro- honestly you never know what you might find. Like this vintage London Transport model tram. I didn't know I needed it until I saw it and now it's found a home in my hall

Handmade pottery made in Devonport Auckland

Ceramics has taught me patience, every step takes alot of time. Throwing ,drying ,trimming ,bisque firing, glazing and glaze firing. And at every stage things can and do go wrong
Still experimenting with glazes but my current

Favourite new pottery glaze - honey flux base x2 with jungle gems Blue Caprice x2 and Peacock

Textures of Devonport

Wandering around Devonport and came across lots of interesting and inspiring textures and colours for pottery

Sometimes it's about the fine details that can surprise you especially when the wider view is revealed

Latest kiln opening

Lots of bowls and a few dinosaurs

Blue speckled- honey flux x2 under jungle gems blue caprice x2

Multi colored bowls - honey flux x2 under with second layer, rasp mist, blue midnight,emerald falls and artic blue x2

Dinosaurs - coloured green clay

Vase - carved with base of honey flux x2 with colours placed on flowers, leaves emerald falls, marigold

Canister- floating turquoise spectrum x2

Jug- turquoise slip with white on flowers topped by abbotts clear
