One of our extra large bouquets heading out last week for a graduation. From picking out single stems to creating the arrangement and then wrapping it, all an art we love doing. The colour of these honesty flowers caught my eye yesterday in the picking patch, my usual honesty has a white flower. I think they must have come from seeds my Aunty gave me a couple of years ago. I don’t pick these now but wait until they turn into the seed stage and then I pick as we use dried.

This is our very first “What’s New Wednesday”. We have new things arriving all the time and have been very remiss at sharing the fun. Flower Friday - I am loving that the delphiniums have started. They are native to many places in the northern hemisphere and also the high mountains of tropical Africa. They symbolise an open heart and joy, positivity and encouragement, protect against negative energy and finally celebrate new beginnings. The slugs and snails love them but I have them planted amongst larkspur which they are loving even more.

Another bespoke hat box going out today. They are all exactly that - bespoke. The colour way for this was requested to be pink and yellow and Emma has certainly met the brief. A mix of flowers from growers and the special finishing touches from our flower farm - I really love the lemon poppies and the sweet pea vines. And I can’t forget the ranunculus and the first spring blossom branches tucked in the back. Blooms grown with love and then arranged with love. Thanks Emma.

Ranunculus - also known as as Persian buttercups or its Latin meaning is “little frog”. In the Victorian era they were given to convey charm and attractiveness. I am growing these gorgeous ones for the first time and they aren’t that easy being affectionately named the “ultimate divas of the flower world” as they are highly particular about how and where they grow. Blooming in almost every colour of the rainbow that was out while I was picking them this afternoon.

Wishing all dads, especially mine, a very Happy Father’s Day. My father has been a huge part of my farming journey, teaching me to grow from a very young age and always out helping me pick when he is staying. I’m heading home to see him tomorrow but for today there is more planting to do as spring is definitely here.
