Following a brief evacuation earlier today after the activation of the sprinkler system, Auckland Airport's domestic terminal has reopened.

Travellers may experience some queuing and delays as operations return to normal.

We thank travellers for their patience and understanding, and acknowledge the efforts of emergency responders, airport teams and airline staff who helped manage the response.

School holidays are coming soon. That means more people, more bags and more to remember 🗓️

This year the school holidays fall between 25 September and 11 October. Our busiest day is set to be 3 October.

Choosing the right parking option early and opt out of stressing at the last minute. Book your parking ahead of time and arrive to your trip all sorted.

BRING ON BETTER JOURNEYS

A change to the order of international departure processing will help create a smoother and safer experience for travellers and prepare international departures for the future integrated terminal.

Known as ‘the Flip’, the project is being delivered alongside NZ Customs and Aviation Security. Together we are working to switch the positions of security screening and passport control for international travellers.

By the end of 2027, all international travellers will go through security screening first, followed by passport control, bringing Auckland in line with many major airports around the world.

The transition will happen in carefully planned stages, so you may follow a different pathway depending on when you travel. You’ll still complete the same international departure steps and there’s nothing extra you need to do. Just follow the signs and our team’s directions on the day.

It’s all coming together.

Heading to AKL with kids these school holidays?

Here's a few tips for making your journey a little smoother.

⏰ Take your time
There's no need to rush. Arrive early and use the parent rooms before you head to your gate. Our staff are always happy to point you in the right direction if you're unsure.

💦 Water stations
Kids get thirsty! We've got water fountains available throughout both terminals where you can refill bottles once you've cleared security.

🤫 Quiet spaces
If you need a break from the crowds, our parent rooms are designed to be calm and comfortable for families.

TRAINING FOR WHEN IT MATTERS MOST

Auckland Airport’s emergency crews have been put through their paces in Singapore during their annual live-fire aircraft firefighting training.

Using a Boeing 747-sized simulator, our Airport Emergency Service firefighters tackled realistic engine fires, fuel spills and wheel fires in temperatures reaching 35°C and humidity as high as 100 per cent.

This specialist training helps ensure our crews meet international aviation standards and are ready to protect travellers, crew and airport staff during any aircraft emergency.

A new international shopping experience is taking shape at Auckland Airport.

Our biggest airside retail upgrade in a decade will bring travellers an expanded beauty precinct, upgraded duty free stores and more space to explore.

The new line-up includes an expanded CHANEL boutique, luxury beauty and fragrance from Prada Beauty, Miu Miu and Maison Francis Kurkdjian, plus more than 10 K-beauty brands arriving for the first time.

Standalone Aesop and Le labo stores are also opening later this year.

The transformation is progressing in stages and is expected to be completed in December 2026. Thanks for your patience while we get everything ready.
