EASY GATEFOLD CARD WITH LUXE FOLIAGE SPECIALTY PAPER

Do you enjoy making cards that are a little different but still quick and easy to put together?

In today’s Live, I made two gatefold birthday cards featuring the Luxe Foliage Specialty Designer Series Paper, September’s Product of the Month. This beautiful paper has gold foil designs on Peaceful Pine, Pecan Pie, and Secret Sea backgrounds.

I also used the Tile Garden Dies to create the detailed diamond-shaped layers on the belly band. During the video, I shared how to score the gatefold using either a paper trimmer or the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, along with a helpful tip for running square dies through your die-cutting machine.

CARD MEASUREMENTS

Card base: 14.8 cm x 21 cm
Score: 5.25 cm from each short end
Specialty Designer Series Paper: Two pieces measuring 4.8 cm x 14.3 cm
Belly band: 3 cm wide, wrapped around the finished card to fit

The Luxe Foliage Specialty Designer Series Paper is available during September as the Product of the Month. With a qualifying order of $150, you can add it to your order for just $11, while supplies last.

SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAY THANK-YOU

Place an order of $100 or more with me during September, before shipping, and you will be invited to an online craft-along session. You will also be included in a prize draw. If you cannot attend live, a recording will be available.

Do you decorate the inside of your cards as well as the front?

I often add a stamped image inside or, when I’m using Designer Series Paper, add a narrow strip to tie everything together.

One thing I don’t always remember to do is add DSP to the envelope flap, but I think it finishes this one nicely and makes the envelope feel like part of the card too.

This paper was last month’s Product of the Month, but you could use this idea with any patterned paper.

Do you usually stamp inside your cards, add some DSP, or leave them plain?

Would you have the patience to open just one door each day—or would you want to peek at everything straight away?

The 12 Days of Creativity Advent Calendar is filled with 12 crafting surprises, plus a bonus stamp set. Inside you’ll find dies, paper, colouring tools, cards, envelopes, embellishments and more.

The products are exclusive to the calendar and cannot be purchased separately.

It is $209, with $273 worth of products inside. Only a limited number are available, so if this is on your wish list, I wouldn’t leave it too long.

Would you save yours until December or start opening it now? Let me know below.

Last year’s calendar sold out within a few weeks, so if you would like one, I recommend ordering sooner rather than later.

The ordering link is in the comments, or you’re welcome to message me if you have any questions.

Would you believe these backgrounds were stamped using rubber bands?

If you missed last week's Live, I shared how to create both striped and checked backgrounds using something you may already have at home. I also demonstrated two different ways to colour the flowers from the Radiant Sunflowers stamp set.

You can watch the replay and see how each card came together. I’ll add the link in the comments.

Which background do you prefer—the stripes or the checks?

Black-and-white patterned paper gives you so many possibilities!

For this card, I used ink and a blending brush to add colour to the paper before putting the card together. It is an easy way to make patterned paper coordinate with the colours you want to use.

What colour would you choose?

EASY SUNFLOWER CARDS WITH A RUBBER BAND BACKGROUND TECHNIQUE

Thank you for joining me for today’s Live. I used the Radiant Sunflowers Stamp Set to create colourful sunflower cards with a fun background made using ordinary rubber bands wrapped around a clear block.

I first created these cards as notecards for Coffee & Cards, then adapted the design to make a standard-sized card during the Live. I demonstrated striped and checked backgrounds and shared two ways to colour the sunflower image: Stampin’ Blends or ink applied with a Water Painter.

You can use this idea with many different stamps and colours. I shared samples in Old Olive, Golden Glow and Hydrangea Hue. Which colour combination is your favourite?

Would you love to make your own cards, but aren’t quite sure where to start?

Paper Pumpkin is a monthly all-inclusive craft kit from Stampin’ Up!, with everything prepared for you so you can simply sit down and create.

The September Aspens of Gratitude kit has a beautiful soft watercolour and woodland feel, with warm, natural colours.

It makes 10 cards with coordinating envelopes — five each of two designs. Everything you need is included, with prepared pieces and step-by-step instructions.

We only get a sneak peek beforehand, so part of the fun is the surprise of seeing the complete kit when it arrives.

It’s a lovely option whether you’re new to card making and would like an easy place to start, or you already enjoy crafting and would like a ready-to-go project without having to plan it all yourself.

$56 NZD including shipping. It’s a monthly subscription, with the flexibility to cancel if you wish.

If you’d like to receive the September kit, subscribe by Thursday 10th September.
