Te Whare Tipu We are a collective of regenerative people who love growing in community. Kia ora!

We produce seedlings, propagations, native and fruit trees especially for schools, Marae, and community-led growing iniatives. We’re a collective based in West and South Auckland, passionate about growing kai, caring for Papatūānuku, and empowering our communities. Through māra kai, composting, waste minimisation, and creative education, we help tamariki, rangatahi and whānau reconnect with the wh

enua and each other. We believe in kaitiakitanga, working together, and passing on knowledge so future generations can thrive. From school seed box programmes to workshops on maramataka, sustainability, and wellbeing — everything we do has a whakapapa and a purpose.

Growing kai, growing community. 🌱

A $10,000 Your West Support Fund grant is helping Te Whare Tipu keep its West Auckland growing network thriving. Based at The ReCreators site in Massey, this collective of eight community-growing organisations shares seedlings, skills and support with whānau, schools and community gardens right across The West.

The funding covers the behind-the-scenes essentials like rent, water, irrigation and volunteer support, so thousands of seedlings can keep making their way into local hands. Right now winter favourites like spinach, lettuce and spring onions are flourishing.

We started greenhouse project in November 2024 with an intent to support a movement toward kaitiakitanga and the future we all deserve-one that is green, equitable, and sustainable.

This project was foremost about building something positive and hopeful. We believe in gathering strength thru celebrating our collective mahi in the community and sharing our resources and expertise with others.

Our community glass house itself has many benefits. Not only does it help provide schools, community gardens and food forests with seedlings, food, and trees, but it’s a great place to hui about climate action.

It also provides access to a rural environment, materials, tools & equipment, and a regenerative community to develop and test scalable climate solutions like seaweed, reclaimed timber and bio sourced materials, regenerative fertilisers & compost, and black soldier flies.

Ways you can support this community and our mahi:

We seek customers who want to purchase seedlings, organic fertiliser, compost, gardening services, education or planting workshops, plants and anything in between.

We are looking for residents, members, volunteers or supporters who can lend us a hand from time to time.

We hope to find sponsors and funding for their operational expenses and program coordination.

The button factory community came for a tour during a working bee and helped move in a seeding table.

Ethan leads and organises the mahi like a pro.
