Manurewa Marae The Marae reaches hundreds of whanau/families in the South Auckland area through our culturally relevant & holistic approach to community development.

Manurewa Marae is appropriately referred to as a "one stop shop," striving to provide the basic needs of our community - educational, health, and cultural - in one location. Manurewa Marae, in collaboration with several community partners, shares a vision for sustainable grass-roots development which follows the values, protocols & concepts guiding daily life and interaction in Maori culture (Tika

nga). Values include the importance of te reo (language), whenua (land) and in particular whanau (family and extended family group), with an emphasis on community ties. Protocols revolve around the concepts of tapu (sacred/forbidden) and noa (unrestricted), as well as offering karakia (prayer) before and after meetings, and an emphasis on face-to-face communication. Our staff provide programmes and services that equip community members with tools and resources to succeed in all spheres of their life, while supporting our central goal of keeping Maoritanga alive - the Maori way of live and viewing the world.

Our Uukaipoo waananga are well underway, with our Hapuutanga, Korowai and Maara kaupapa all happening in full swing!

Uukaipoo is a kaupapa dedicated to supporting hapuu whaanau, maamaa, paapaa, peepi, tamariki and whaanau on their parenting journey. Through waananga, practical support, learning opportunities and connection, we walk alongside whaanau to help build strong foundations for our peepi and future generations.

Te Manu Aute Whare Oranga warmly invites wāhine into a unique rongoā-centred space for healing, creativity and reconnection.

This intimate wānanga will be facilitated by Tui Kerehoma (Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāti Huia ki Poroutawhao) alongside Kaatewairua Evans, our resident Rongoā Māori Practitioner. This kaupapa has been intentionally shaped as a gentle, trauma-informed space for wāhine who may be carrying mamae, seeking reconnection, or simply feeling called toward a deeper process of healing and transformation.

Working with uku, the substance of Papatūānuku, participants will create two taonga pūoro: one to keep for themselves and one to offer as koha.
Through the pūrākau of Hineahuone and Hine-pū-te-hue, the process of shaping and bringing the uku together becomes a pathway into weaving breath, vibration and mauri through the making and sounding of taonga pūoro.

This kaupapa is for wāhine seeking āhurutanga, a nurturing space grounded in creativity and rongoā, with an intention toward reconnection, restoration and transformation.

Whare toi, A 1-day kaupapa grounded in whakapapa, mātauranga Māori and our connection to the taiao through ngā mahinga toi – the arts.

A space where people can learn about the origins and significance of moko, explore traditional patterns and their meanings, and understand the stories, knowledge and connections held within them.

Through learning, kōrero and connection, we hope to help grow an understanding of tā moko beyond the surface — recognising the atua, whakapapa and taiao that give these patterns their meanings.
This is about reconnecting with our pūrākau, learning from the knowledge passed down through generations, and creating opportunities for others to engage with these taonga respectfully, meaningfully and creatively.

Designed to meet whaanau where they’re at!

Uukaipoo is here to walk alongside hapuu whaanau, maamaa, peepi, tamariki (0–5), paapaa and whaanau through their health and wellbeing journey.

Grounded in manaaki, aroha and wairua pai, we create spaces where whānau can feel safe, connected, supported and empowered — bringing together cultural, relational and clinical support.

We’ve created different waananga and safe spaces for whaanau to learn, connect, create and simply be — with no expectations and no judgement. 🌿

Te Manu Aute Whare Oranga is beginning our Rongoā Māori Outreach Kaupapa with Kōhanga Reo, supporting whānau with free whānau-sized rongoā packs for use in the home.

Each pack includes 4 practical rongoā products to support everyday whānau wellbeing:
