Cool crafts for Mothers Day

Then pop a tealight into it. We used one of our cheap and cheerful battery powered ones. In the picture below there is one inside the jar and one beside it. A normal lit tealight works really well too, but the battery one is safer and easier.

The birthday party was heaps of fun! One of the games was a sort of a treasure hunt - I wrote a message on a sheet of paper for each child, with a magic 'word' each. I cut the messages up and hid all the bits of paper in plastic bags around the garden. Each bag had lots of bits of paper. They had to find all the bags, assemble the puzzles and then put their words together to make a sentence to work out where the treasure was. The treasure being a very easy to make Pinata. But we did not hit it with sticks, the children had to throw balls at it until it fell down. Lots of fun!

Yippee - I have thought of the topic for the next newsletter. It ties in with making stuff for my daughters birthday party this weekend - I can't say what it is yet, but will post a picture or two after the weekend.

Not paper related but still fabulous fun for kids - we call it 'made up baking' - I give them a bowl and a spoon and access to anything they want out of the cupboards. They decide, measure, spill, mix, taste, find some more things, discuss, mix some more, shape and arrange and then bake. Sometimes it is even edible! Usually a big mess and always fun.
