A Change of Mindset 🔧
Since closing Edgeware Mowers, things have changed quite a bit.
As hard as it was to walk away from the business, I knew I needed to get a job to help support our family. Tuesday to Friday I'm now working with some seriously big equipment — a long way from the lawnmowers and small engines I'm used to.
And honestly, this job has changed the way I look at things.
Take this machine for example. I was involved in stripping it down, seeing it go through the painting process, and then getting the job of putting it all back together.
When you're reassembling something like this, you can't just think "she'll be right." 😅
Every panel, every bolt, every component needs care. You've got to take your time. You don't want to mark freshly painted surfaces, damage something you've just spent hours working on, or send something out that you're not genuinely proud of.
And I think that mindset has started to follow me home.
It's made me look differently at The Mow Lab.
I'm not interested in just getting something running and saying "she'll be right" anymore.
I want to take more pride in the repairs.
I want the machines leaving The Mow Lab to look as good as they can.
I want the little details to matter.
And I want the finished product to stand out.
The Mow Lab might have started in a garage, but my goal isn't for it to always feel like just a backyard garage operation.
I'm going to take what I'm learning Tuesday to Friday and bring that mindset into The Mow Lab — one machine at a time, one repair at a time.
Who knows where it might eventually lead.
For now, I'm proud of the journey, proud of the work, and proud to be building something again.
