Event Schedule: Week of 3/08/2026
Key Highlights for the Upcoming Week:
🔹 Due to popular demand, we are hosting a second Riftbound Vendetta pre-release event, so if you missed the first we'd love to have you along for a second round!
🔹 This weekend is going to be incredibly busy with The Hobbit pre-release for Magic the Gathering. We're expecting a massive turnout for these events, so be sure to get tickets soon!
🔹 Sunday is The third day of the pre-release period, and we'll be hosting our Two-Headed Giant event! With teams of two players working together, this event is perfect for bringing newer players along to experience this exciting new set.

Another Friday night, another amazing pair of events here at Card Merchant Christchurch! We have another awesome turnout of 28 players for One Piece tonight, and to celebrate we’re handing out promos like there’s no tomorrow. We’ll be keeping this up until OP-17 releases, so don’t worry about missing out!

And 56 players joined us for our commander league tonight, though next weekend is sure to be busier with the prerelease for the Hobbit set coming up! Tickets are up now and selling fast, so grab them quickly while you still can!

On Saturday we hosted another of our monthly Pokémon trade days, and the turnout was terrific! We had some incredible vendors with both sealed product and singles, and at times it was hard to find a path through all of the people browsing and trading!

We love being able to provide a space for community events like this to happen, and we can’t wait for the next month’s trade day. We’d love to have even more people coming along and getting involved!

🔹 Tuesday night will be a big one for our Riftbound community with the Vendetta pre-release event!
🔹 And on Saturday we are hosting a Magic the Gathering learn-to-play event! If you're a new player wanting to get involved with the Hobbit set coming next week, or just looking for a place to start, this will be a fantastic way to learn the game!

Tonight is prizegiving for our commander league, which means we’ve got some sweet goodies to give out to our community! It’s always our pleasure to host events for such an excellent group of people. We’d like to give a special shout out to our absentee winners tonight, Tom M and Yolanda H! Your prizes will be available to pick up from behind the front desk next time you’re in store.

And we’d also like to give a massive thanks to our One Piece community, and to Hells Pizza Shirley for giving them something to compete for! Last Sunday we gave pizza vouchers to our top eight players, to fuel them on their quest for the One Piece! We are very grateful to have such generous sponsors for our wonderful community.

⚠️ ATTENTION POKÉMON FANS ⚠️

We have unfortunately not received our allocation of Pitch Black ETBs and blisters yet, and won’t be able to fulfil any preorders until they arrive. We are hoping they’ll turn up early next week, but haven’t been provided with a tracking number for our shipment so we can’t give a firm ETA. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, we’ll keep you all updated as soon as we know when it will arrive.

We’ve got 53 commander players joining us for the final week of our league tonight, finishing strong! Next week is our prizegiving, with free entry and goodies to give out, so hopefully we’ll see everyone there too!

And there are 22 one piece players in tonight for their regular hobby. The competition is fierce, we’re excited to see who’ll come out on top!

Over the weekend we held an OP-13 win a box event, to much acclaim! With 27 total players the competition was fierce, but we’d like to congratulate Mark for coming out on top and taking home the box! Thank you to everyone who came along to make this such a great event, we can’t wait to host another soon!

Key Highlights for the Upcoming Week:
🔹 This Wednesday we have another all day Lorcana learn-to-play event, so if you've got some time to kill now that it's school holidays drop by and try out a fantastic game for all ages!
🔹 Thursday we have a second Pokemon Day Celebration! We will have activitiesand cards for all participants, so come along for another great school holiday event.
🔹 On Saturday morning we are hosting a Riftbound Road to 10k Showdown, with the top two players securing round one byes at the 10k Showdown in Auckland next month!
🔹 And our Lorcana: Attack of the Vine! pre-release will be at 1pm on Saturday, with our stock looking like it's arriving on time this time!
