With over 30 established New Zealand artists, you will be in for a treat!

This weekend you can enjoy the talents of the Sumner Art Society folk.

You will find the exhibition at the Mt Pleasant Yacht Club, right by the Ferrymead bridge, on the banks of the Estuary.

With over 20 artists working in a range of media, this is one to pop on your calendars and get along to.

The exhibition opens on Friday night, and runs from 10am until 5pm on Saturday 1st August and Sunday 2nd August.

The sticks are incredibly forgiving and malleable, making them the perfect choice for creating soft lines and textures and for massing in areas in soft, velvety tones.

Made only from willow- with no binding agents, they will erase completely, so are ideal for drawing out a rough composition on canvas, prior to painting.

Pastel papers, or rough, textured papers are the best surfaces to use to hold the charcoal.

It's that time of the year again, when the Amuri Community Art Council celebrate talented artists in the Hurunui region.

This year the theme is Kotahitanga (unity or togetherness).

This competition is open to all ages and skill levels, and with submissions due on the 29th- this would be something fun to work on over the weekend.

There are a range of prizes, (including Drawing Room vouchers!), so it's worth submitting a piece!!
