Time to make the most of a good forecast for the long weekend!
We will be closed this weekend and Monday(Anzac day observed) so if you need to stock up come see us this week.
We’ve just had a big top up of fly tying materials and canal fishing tackle. And if you’re heading to the lakes or offshore we’ve also got you covered.

If you’re looking for some local family friendly fishing check out Lake Rua at the Roto Kōhatu reserve. Fish and game have just stocked the lake with 1kg salmon. Small spinners, small softbaits and bubble and bait/nymph can all be successful. Call in for any advice and gear you may need.

Local kingfish in Pegasus Bay have been coming through in solid sizes lately, with the Shimano Bubbledip lure responsible for a few quality fish yesterday.

The local beaches have been going off!
Kahawai schools, bait balls and work ups within casting range. Good sized Gurnad are increasing in numbers and several nicely conditioned Salmon have been caught off Birdlings Flat in the last week! The Salmon have been taken on flasher rigs and spinners. Our Taniwha lures proving successful.
Fresh Kahawai cut baits or Anchovies mixed with a splash of colour and flash on the hook have been the baits of choice for the Gurnad and of course fresh small Paddle crabs are Rig’s favoured snack.
The local surfcasting just keeps getting better and better in recent years and it is such a fun, easily accessible, family friendly way of fishing and you can’t beat fresh fish for the table!
