D R E S S I N G F O R T A L L W O M E N 👖

On Wednesday we finished off my client’s wardrobe rebuild shop, with one of the trickiest things still left on our list 👉 jeans and trousers with enough length for her 5'11" frame.

Rhonda has struggled for years to find pants long enough, so she was absolutely amazed that I had managed to find her 4 pairs of pants that were all long enough and in her Spring coloured denim and dress pants! 💃

👖 Two pairs of blue denim ROLLA'S jeans
🤍 A pair of ecru KOWTOW jeans
🤎 A pair of dress trousers
👟 Classic white sneakers
👟 A more creative pair of sneakers
🥾 And some gorgeous ankle boots

Because she is also very lean through the legs, the jeans are all going to be taken in through the side seams to refine the fit.

And this is where alterations can make such a difference. 🪡
When someone is so far out of the fashion industry's "average" in length of arms, legs or height, then the priority is finding the right length, colour, fabric and overall style first, because width can be altered far more easily than trying to magically add length that simply isn’t there!

Her dress trousers only need a false hem to give her a bit more length for the perfect fit. 👌

Such a satisfying way to finish off her new wardrobe and I think her smile says it all. ❤️

W H A T A FA B U L O U S D A Y ! 🛍️🥂

What a successful shopping day today creating a brand new wardrobe for my lovely fun client Rhonda 😍

Rhonda hadn’t shopped for herself in years and has been slowly reconnecting with herself and embracing this new stage in life. Part of that was creating a wardrobe that reflects who she is now.

We started at 10am and shopped right through until 6pm, with a very necessary lunch break at 12.30pm and a 4pm Prosecco! 🥂😂

This was a BIG shop, covering everything from leisurewear and smart casual pieces to footwear, handbags and jewellery in her gorgie Spring colours.

And just look at that smile! 😁

Rhonda was absolutely thrilled with everything she bought, and I loved watching her confidence grow as the wardrobe started coming together.

And we’re not quite finished yet either! I’m heading back on Wednesday to complete the final pieces; ankle boots, dress sneakers, merino knits, a blazer and super long jeans and pants for Rhonda's gorgeous statuesque legs.

47 items were on my original pre-shop list, so this has been one seriously comprehensive wardrobe rebuild that will last Rhonda for years to come.

There’s something pretty special about helping someone create a wardrobe that truly feels like them, and seeing how excited they are to wear it.

One very happy client… and one very happy stylist. ❤️

M A S S I V E P R E - S H O P T O D A Y ! 😅🛍️

47 items in total, all ready and waiting for my client tomorrow!

Today’s 3½ hour pre-shop covered everything from necklaces, footwear and three handbags, through to leisurewear, smart casual pieces, outfits for lunches and socialising with friends, plus a special outfit for my client’s New Zealand citizenship ceremony. 🇳🇿

A big pre-shop like this means I can have everything organised ahead of time, so my client arrives ready to try things on, compare options and seeing which pieces work the best.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what the "Yes's" are tomorrow! 💕

Yeah, right! 😂

The reality? I’m regularly on my hands and knees turning up hems, photographing shoes and garments, collecting armfuls of clothes, swapping sizes, running backwards and forwards to fitting rooms and analysing everything from trouser lengths, fit, coordinating colourways, to whether that shoe is really the one.

This was me catching up with a client after a big shopping trip to finish off her footwear.

Glamorous? Not always.
Fun? Rewarding? Absolutely. 😂

H A I R T O D A Y … M E N ' S H A I R G O N E T O O S O O N !

This is something I’ve been meaning to talk about for a while, and I noticed it again at the hot pools last night. I've lost count how often I have this conversation with male clients and men I have gone on dates with.

So many Kiwi men still have plenty of hair, but the moment their hairline starts to recede, they shave the whole lot off! Often down to a number one or even shorter. 😬🤦‍♀️

Excuse the pun, but it’s a very big hairstyle mistake!

A receding hairline does not mean you are bald. In fact, shaving your hair down that severely can actually make you look bald when you’re not.

It can also make your overall appearance look much harsher and more severe than it needs to.

Keeping some length through the sides and especially on top can soften the face, create shape, and make the most of the hair you still have.

It doesn’t need to be long. A short back and sides with more length and texture on top can look far more flattering, modern and attractive.

Men are doing themselves an injustice by automatically shaving all their hair off the moment their hairline starts to recede.

Receding is normal. Bald is bald. They are not the same thing.
Before reaching for the clippers, take a look at what your hair could actually do with the right cut.

P H E W ! S E V E N D A Y S S T R A I G H T — B U T I M A D E I T ! 😅😜

After a very busy week of female and male styling sessions including; colour analysis, style and wardrobe sorting/planning sessions....I finally had a day off yesterday!

There is always a sense of relief for my clients when we remove the items that no longer serve them. Whether they’re the wrong colour or style, don’t fit properly, don’t reflect their personality, or no longer suit their lifestyle.

Sometimes only a handful of suitable pieces remain, which gives me the opportunity to create a beautiful new base wardrobe in their right colours and styles.

One that reflects their personality and works hard for their lifestyle, that can be added to over time.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with a new male client who travelled up from Dunedin for the day.

We spent the morning discovering his best colours through a personalised colour analysis, followed by an in depth style consultation in the afternoon.

With plans to launch his own business soon and organise professional branding photos, he wanted to ensure his image reflected who he is; authentic, approachable and professional.

Together we explored the colours, styles and proportions that work best for him, along with how his personality naturally comes across through what he wears. We covered his ideal necklines, sleeve and hem lengths, jackets, trousers and more.

He now has his personalised Smartfit Style Book to save on his phone, along with both physical and digital colour swatches, giving him a practical guide for future clothing purchases.

I love helping both men and women gain confidence by understanding what truly suits them. It's always rewarding seeing clients leave with clarity, confidence and a plan. ☺️🥰

F E E L I N G A M I L L I O N B U C K S ✨️💃🕺

One of the things I love most about my job is helping clients feel confident for life's special moments. 💙

On Saturday, after a morning style session with a client, I met up with my lovely friend Kate to find her a new top for her outfit for her book launch this Wednesday.

The day before, I'd already created a beautiful outfit from pieces she already owned. Then I found a gorgeous second option with a new peach knit top, so she's ready on Wednesday whether the day is warm or cool.

While we were shopping, I also found a few other fabulous pieces Spoilt Boutique, including a bright melon sweatshirt with warm violet lettering across the front and the back!, and we started planning ahead for her 70s-themed 70th birthday in November with a gorgeous crochet style knit.

I also loved Kate in the Rolla's sailor jeans I put her and her sister in last year, with their extra high waist and long leg length which are perfect for taller women like Kate (5'10"), especially if you have a longer rise or long hip bones. They looked fantastic on both Kate and her even taller sister. 😍

Presenting at a book launch is a bit like your wedding day. You're representing yourself and your business, so you need to feel a million bucks and super confident and comfortable in your outfit.

Mission complete! 😉😁
