Our book of the week is Feathers of Aotearoa by Niels Meyer-Westfeld.
In this beautifully illustrated nature journal, artist and naturalist Niels Meyer-Westfeld explores the incredible diversity of feathers found across Aotearoa’s native birds — from the long, gliding wing feathers of the albatross that carry it effortlessly over the open ocean, to the soft, insulating plumage of the penguin that keeps it warm in icy waters.
Feathers are one of nature’s most ingenious designs. a perfect solution to the many challenges birds face in flight, weather, and survival. Through exquisite artwork and thoughtful insights, Feathers of Aotearoa reveals a fascinating, often unseen side of our birdlife, celebrating the beauty and adaptability of these taonga species.
