It is with great pain and sadness that I have to write this post.
Since buying Edgeware Mowers and Chainsaws in June 2023, Tracey and I have given everything to this business. We have always tried to do the best by our staff — to give them a place to grow, train, learn, laugh, and enjoy coming to work. You have all become like family to us, and we are incredibly grateful and proud to have had you as both staff and friends.
But with a very heavy heart, we have made the decision to close the doors of Edgeware Mowers.
This decision was not made lightly, and it has taken a lot for us to come to it. Due to overwhelming factors, we have had to make this incredibly difficult choice.
Edgeware Mowers has been a well-known and respected name in the outdoor power equipment industry in Christchurch and Canterbury since Andrew Rowe started it back in 1992. It will stay with me for a long time that I wasn’t able to continue the legacy that had been built over so many years.
I want to thank our past staff —Ethan, Andrea, Alan, Boyd, Caleb, Tim, Leon, and Jake. Most of you were there from the beginning while we found our feet after jumping headfirst into this new journey. It made us proud to see many of you move on to things you loved outside of mowers and chainsaws.
To all our staff, past and present, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to finish the job I started here. You guys have been amazing, and I know you all gave us 100%. It never went unnoticed, and I hope I showed you how much it meant to us.
Thank you to Tracey, my beautiful wife, for saying, “Sure, let’s give it a go,” and for standing beside me every step of the way — supporting me and picking me up when things were tough. None of this would have been possible without you.
To my parents Alan, Jacqui, and Tom. Thank you for your support, if it was financial help, Liking every post on Facebook, or fixing the van, painting or moving workshops I am and will always to very grateful.
And finally, to our customers, both new and old — thank you for your ongoing support, for trusting us as a team and as a business with your equipment, and for giving us the opportunity to offer you the best service we could.
I feel incredibly proud of the work we put out and what we were able to offer you. I’ve enjoyed talking with so many of you, hearing the stories behind your chainsaws and lawnmowers, how long you’d owned them, and seeing the pride in your faces when telling us where it all started.
I’ll truly miss delivering new equipment and seeing how something as simple as a lawnmower can bring so much joy to people.
Edgeware Mowers has given us the opportunity to meet great people, work alongside great people, and employ amazing people. It has been harder than words can describe having to let you all go, but I know every one of you will continue on to do amazing things, and any employer would be lucky to have you.
So, for the last time, thank you for choosing Edgeware Mowers and Chainsaws.
