Bryce’s Bagpipes is owned and operated by Graeme Bryce of Christchurch, New Zealand. Graeme hails from the village of Falkland in Fife, Scotland but moved to New Zealand in January 2012 with his wife Lynn and now have a son (Andrew) and daughter (Rosie). Graeme has played with top Grade 1 pipe bands across the world including Lomond and Clyde (2019), Inveraray and District (2016), Canterbury Caledonian (2012 - 2016), Peel Regional Police (2011), Strathclyde Police (2009/2010), the 78th Fraser Highlanders (2007/2008), the Vale of Atholl (2006), Dysart and Dundonald (1998 - 2006). Graeme has also enjoyed some solo piping success over the years in Scotland and New Zealand. He has also had fantastic opportunities to develop an ear for bagpipe sound with Lomond and Clyde, Strathclyde Police, Peel Regional Police, St Andrew's College and Canterbury Caledonian Society G1. Through all of these experiences, Graeme has developed a vast network of bagpipers, pipe bands and major bagpipe suppliers. Overall, Graeme has developed an excellent reputation in tutoring, bagpipe sales, custom bagpipe set up and service. Bryce's Bagpipes was established in 2012.

A hive of activity the past wee while at Bryce’s Bagpipes. Looking forward to the trip North to Scotland in 2 weeks!

A set of DN5 (David Naill) pipes with aged imitation. Customised for stability and harmonics, the pipes were singing. A nice wee touch on the bass drone stock with the first bar of The Black Bear in memory of someone very special. Lovely 🥰

Another fantastic set of 2009 Peter Henderson bagpipes in for a service and some customisation. A lovely bagpipe that locks in with lovely harmonics. Set up with a Peter Henderson solo Blackwood chanter.

We are absolutely delighted to set up and supply this amazing set of bagpipes - David Naill Vintage with clean engraved Dragon design.

These pipes have been meticulously customised, sound and look excellent. The engraving pattern is perfect for the recipient 🤩

We are looking forward to getting these Lawrie’s up and running for our customer. The pipes have been out of action for some time and are passing through generations, becoming a real family legacy set.

This set of McCallum AB3 pipes showcases a lovely Celtic design. Crafted in 2008, they are sounding sweet after a tidy-up for Anna. Set up with a new G1 Platinum chanter reed, these pipes are ready to sound and look great at your event next weekend 🥰

Another set of David Naill DN2’s (sticks only) that required some work to help with stability. A few tweaks have ensured a solid performance under test using the same drone reeds. A wee clean up with some oiling and polishing too 🤩The pipes will be singing in the weeks ahead for the NZ National Championships and beyond.

Tested in a sheepskin bag and Shepherd MK2 chanter.

A set of 2012 Strathmore Bagpipes all good to go back to their owner. These pipes have been tidied up with a Tudual Hervieux sheepskin pipe bag added, split stock and Marr custom water trap.

Some assistance has been given from our young apprentice Andrew who has taken a keen interest in bagpipes this week! He will want paid though 🤪

We have been asked to include a before pic this time. They turned out nicely 😊

The joy of 2026 keeps going!

Graeme is teaching at the RNZPBA Summer School this week but the first reed order to get out for 2026 is on the bench. Every reed is personally selected and tested for each customer at the desired quantity, strength and vibrancy.

We work closely with band leaders and solo pipers to provide a quality service 🙌🏻

The next set completed and ready to sing! A lovely set of vintage bagpipes that were tucked away for way too many years. We are absolutely delighted how they turned out, particularly the natural mounts which had faded significantly.

The wee lad who is about to receive them is going to have a very happy 2026 and beyond indeed. Set up with Canmore Hybrid pipe bag, Ezee Drone reeds, Melvin solo chanter reed in band McCallum chanter, bagpipecovers.com black velvet cover, black cords to make the mounts look stunning and a bagpiper standard case.
