Bryce’s Bagpipes is owned and operated by Graeme Bryce of Christchurch, New Zealand. Graeme hails from the village of Falkland in Fife, Scotland but moved to New Zealand in January 2012 with his wife Lynn and now have a son (Andrew) and daughter (Rosie). Graeme has played with top Grade 1 pipe bands across the world including Lomond and Clyde (2019), Inveraray and District (2016), Canterbury Caled

onian (2012 - 2016), Peel Regional Police (2011), Strathclyde Police (2009/2010), the 78th Fraser Highlanders (2007/2008), the Vale of Atholl (2006), Dysart and Dundonald (1998 - 2006). Graeme has also enjoyed some solo piping success over the years in Scotland and New Zealand. He has also had fantastic opportunities to develop an ear for bagpipe sound with Lomond and Clyde, Strathclyde Police, Peel Regional Police, St Andrew's College and Canterbury Caledonian Society G1. Through all of these experiences, Graeme has developed a vast network of bagpipers, pipe bands and major bagpipe suppliers. Overall, Graeme has developed an excellent reputation in tutoring, bagpipe sales, custom bagpipe set up and service. Bryce's Bagpipes was established in 2012.

Another set of David Naill DN2’s (sticks only) that required some work to help with stability. A few tweaks have ensured a solid performance under test using the same drone reeds. A wee clean up with some oiling and polishing too 🤩The pipes will be singing in the weeks ahead for the NZ National Championships and beyond.

Tested in a sheepskin bag and Shepherd MK2 chanter.

A set of 2012 Strathmore Bagpipes all good to go back to their owner. These pipes have been tidied up with a Tudual Hervieux sheepskin pipe bag added, split stock and Marr custom water trap.

Some assistance has been given from our young apprentice Andrew who has taken a keen interest in bagpipes this week! He will want paid though 🤪

The joy of 2026 keeps going!

Graeme is teaching at the RNZPBA Summer School this week but the first reed order to get out for 2026 is on the bench. Every reed is personally selected and tested for each customer at the desired quantity, strength and vibrancy.

We work closely with band leaders and solo pipers to provide a quality service 🙌🏻

The next set completed and ready to sing! A lovely set of vintage bagpipes that were tucked away for way too many years. We are absolutely delighted how they turned out, particularly the natural mounts which had faded significantly.

The wee lad who is about to receive them is going to have a very happy 2026 and beyond indeed. Set up with Canmore Hybrid pipe bag, Ezee Drone reeds, Melvin solo chanter reed in band McCallum chanter, bagpipecovers.com black velvet cover, black cords to make the mounts look stunning and a bagpiper standard case.

1st set cleaned up for 2026! Older generation Naill bagpipes are now ready for their owner.

The nickel mounts were in very bad shape but turned out well 😊. Wee tweaks here or there too 😉.

Set up with new Canmore Hybrid, Ezee drone reeds, universal blowpipe, band chanter with Melvin solo reed, cover, cords and case. Mint!

A set of full natural mount Hardies ready for a customer. We are really proud of these pipes as they arrived with very narrow bores and mounts in a poor condition. So, they required extensive treatment in the workshop.

Delighted to be in our happy place helping recondition vintage bagpipes and ensuring great tone for years to come.

They sound and look amazing. Someone is going to be very lucky for Christmas 😊

Sometimes it’s cool to post a cool story 😊

Here is a set of Duncan MacRae by Stuart Liddell (SL4) that came back to us for a service and set up. This set was once owned and played by Graeme (2015/2016) in what we believe to be the one of the first available reproduction sets of the new era MacRae Bagpipes - Set #11. Video in the comments below from the very first test!

Anyway, at the very same time of working on these pipes, we have in the workshop a set of ORIGINAL Duncan MacRae Set #000 something and they are simply stunning.

This doesn’t happen very often but we are delighted to get the chance to work on both sets of pipes at the same time. Very cool indeed.
