📣🐑four years ago I introduced the Southern Blanket Coat a piece inspired by our heritage, our wool, and the timeless practicality of a beautifully made coat.

As our business evolved, I expanded the Southern Heritage range to include men’s and women’s blazers, along with our Southern Heritage Jacket. But over the years, one question has continued to come through.

Our lovely staff member Stacey came to me when we first started our Southern Heritage range with an 💡 could we create a hunting jacket using our beautiful 100% pure wool apparel fabric in the classic Southern Heritage blazer as the base.

After a few custom modifications, we transformed the Southern Heritage Blazer into a practical hunting-style jacket made especially for Stacey to enjoy out on her hunts with beautiful Silverdale.

We love being able to create pieces that are not only timeless and tailored, but also made to be worn and enjoyed in the great outdoors. Supporting NZ made and NZ wool every step of the way.

I’ve always wanted to give upholstering this bench seat a go. Now that we are offering our 100% wool upholstery fabric for home DIY or larger commercial projects, I decided it was time to try it myself.

The wool fabric was beautiful to work with and stayed nicely in place when folding and tucking the edges down with the upholstery tacks. I also used a layer of NZ wool padding underneath to give it extra padding.

The whole project took around an hour and a half, and honestly it was far easier than I expected. If you’ve been thinking about giving upholstery a go, I highly recommend trying it, it’s so rewarding seeing the finished result.
