Welcome to your new friendly local game store at 23 Princes Street, Dunedin! By players for players. We are based in Dunedin as part of the Card Merchant group.

In store you'll find endless board games, card games, TCGs and events. We have the largest range in the South Island and we specialise in the unique. If you don't see what you like instore or online, let our lovely staff know and they can look into getting it. Our online shop is still called The GameStore. Pop on to get all your game needs delivered to you across New Zealand and Australia.

What a day of pulls at Card Merchant Dunedin! 🔥
Today’s Riftbound Pre-Rift events had some absolutely unreal hits, with 3 Jhin Overnumbers pulled, including 1 Signature Jhin.

With Jhin’s whole theme being the number 4, it feels like there might just be one more waiting to be pulled… 👀

We also had Robbie come in today to show us the results of his Ascended Heroes opening from the other day, and they were absolutely wild. 🤯
Robbie managed to pull both an SIR Gengar and an SIR Pikachu an insane double hit and definitely one worth showing off.

Massive congrats to everyone who hit big, and thanks to everyone who came down for today’s Pre-Rift events. The Riftbound hype is very real, and we’re loving seeing the pulls, the games, and the community growing every event.

Big moves happening at Card Merchant Dunedin today 👀

A crane is on-site this morning helping with the installation of our brand new heat pumps, making the store more comfortable for events, shopping, and long gaming sessions all year round.

We’re expecting the crane to be packed down and the in-store work to be finished before opening, so we’ll still be open at our normal time of 12pm today.

If you were planning to come in, you absolutely still can! We’ll be open from 12pm onwards as usual.

More upgrades, better play space, same CMD energy 🔥❄️

Wednesday kicks things off with Riftbound Nexus Night, plus Sorcery Constructed and Dragon Ball Ultimate Battle.

Thursday brings One Piece, Grand Archive, MTG Modern, and Edison Format again for Yu-Gi-Oh!

Friday is one of the biggest community nights of the week.
Join us for Free Casual Commander at 6:30pm with weekly giveaways, plus Flesh and Blood Armory, Star Wars Unlimited with double promo packs, and Pokémon casual play and trade with league packs.
