Don't mind me.... I'm just dilly dallying on this dreary old Saturday. Revisiting my creative roots and doing a bit of reloving and repurposing 🥰
One of the first things I made to sell was a range of jewels made out of zippers. When I was thinking about how I could add a lil extra somethin to these wings, I was reminded about how much I could do with a zipper - and KABLAM! Zippedy doodah, a wing with bling ✨️
This wing set is so far made with a reloved bush-shirt, some lace trim I found a bajillion years ago while thrifting aaaaaaand a repurposed zipper 😊
Now I'm having to resist the urge to stop working on these wings and see what I can do with my bag of zips 🤣 stay.on.task.lulu 🤣

Proof that not everything makes the cut... this has taken up way too much real estate in my brain. When I started lil miss piwakawaka, I had grand dreams of doing a whole nz native bird series. But, this was not fun.... mistakes were made, it didn't flow or come together like I'd hoped. I wanted to bin it... but I also wanted to see it through so that I could cross it off the list of ideas in my brain to have a crack at 😊 So, giving it its moment here, not so much to share the finished project, but more to celebrate that despite every part of me wanting to quit, I finished her ✨️

She's still one of the best things I've ever done.. and a huuuuuuuuge part of that was the beyond beautiful way that my extraordinarily talented illustrator Bec brought Etta and her magical message to life ✨️💖✨️
