The Page and Prose and Timaru Booksellers are excited to celebrate Jane Austen with you ALL YEAR LONG. Join us once a month for an Austen fest as we deep dive each of her novels - and a few contemporary Austen adjacent novels in our famously awesome bookclub setting. The bookclubs can be joined virtually if you can’t make it to South Canterbury, and will be hosted in the bookshops, with joining instructions issued by email. The Page & Prose is looking for a full time bookseller to begin mid February.

The successful candidate will be an advocate for reading, will have a deep and diverse knowledge of books, will have excellent customer service skills and be adept at managing multiple projects on the go. Alongside retail expertise, the ideal candidate will be technologically proficient, curious and a quick learner. Experience with Shopify or Circlesoft will be a strong advantage.

The role is 40 hours a week, Geraldine based and remuneration relevant to experience.

Applications must include a cover letter and a CV and contact details for three referees.

HAPPY NEW YEAR READERS! Here are our bookclubs and book events for the first three months of the year, and a refresher on our bookclubs: they’re open to anyone, they’re held at the bookshop and we all read the same book and then discuss the book, and then discuss other books and bookish things. The bookshop puts on a spread and it’s free to attend, we just ask that you buy the book from us, or via Libro.fm (our audible book provider) with us as your chosen bookshop. Any questions, just pop into the bookshop.

Film club! A special addition to our Bookshop Bookclub scheduling because of the three amazing movie lineups of beloved books. The dates here may change, but the bookclub involves a trip to the movies! We’ll meet in the bookshop before hand to discuss the book and how it might play out on screen.

The Timaru Bookclubs are held in Timaru Booksellers, 331 Stafford Street, Timaru and the Geraldine Bookclubs are held in The Page & Prose, 26 Talbot Street, Geraldine.
