There's been a lot of interest and enquiries in my products over the last few days after KiwiPlates introduced their new black plate range, so here are some frequently asked questions that might clarify a few things:
Am I still making novelty number plates?
Yes.
Are they road legal?
No. All the plates that Doozi make are for show/novelty use only, and are not a legal substitute for your government-issued plates. This includes all the black styles that we have made in the past.
Are the Doozi plates the same as the Kiwiplates ones?
No. I use my own modern style font, as well as half a dozen other font styles, depending on the number plate design. My plates are not pressed from behind (but still have a '3D' embossed option), and do not have any holographic security features. I use a different production method that is suitable for custom and one-off orders, and have a different range of colours, matt/gloss finishes, and sizes.
Can Doozi make motorcycle number plates?
Yes - but they are still for show use only. No - I don't know why KiwiPlates haven't include motorcycle plates in their new black range.
Is it legal to use a number plate sticker on the road instead?
No - NZTA do not currently offer sticker versions of their number plates. Yes - the wording in their regulations is confusing.
Am I busy?
Heck yes.
