Simple things 🌿πŸ₯°

The daffodil is the bravest flower I know. 🌼

It blooms in early spring β€” sometimes with frost still on the ground. While everything else is still sleeping, still waiting for permission, the daffodil simply decides: now. Today. Despite everything.

In Wales, spotting the first daffodil of the year promises more gold than silver in your pocket all season. πŸ₯°πŸ’›πŸŒΏπŸ‘

The rose has been a symbol of love for thousands of years. 🌹

People have painted it, written poems about it, carried it across battlefields to remember someone they loved.

I make mine in paper β€” because I believe that kind of love deserves to last longer than a week.

This is where Kiwi Flower began. One rose. One pair of scissors. One very stubborn belief that beautiful things should stay beautiful.

Welcome to my little studio in Hamilton, New Zealand. 🌸
I'm Jessica β€” and I make paper flowers that last forever.

What brought you here today? I'd love to know. πŸ‘‡

In the Victorian language of flowers, the gardenia meant secret love β€” feelings kept close to the heart, not yet ready to be spoken. Also purity, joy, and clarity of thought. A gardenia given to someone meant: you are lovely, and I have been watching you with warmth, quietly, for some time.

The lotus grows in mud πŸͺ·It rises through it, blooms above it β€” and arrives perfect. That's what this flower means: resilience. Rising. Purity of heart, no matter what's below. 80+ petals, all shaped by hand then this one coming to life πŸͺ·β†’ What does the lotus mean to you? πŸͺ·

The clematis is called the Queen of Climbers. 🌸🌿

It doesn't need a perfect garden. It doesn't need ideal conditions. It wraps its leaf stems β€” not tendrils, but actual leaf stems β€” around whatever support it finds nearby. A fence post. Another plant's stem. A crack in a wall.

The clematis means: mental beauty. Ingenuity. The particular grace of a mind that finds its way.

I've been thinking about that a lot lately. The way creativity isn't about having the perfect setup, the perfect materials, the perfect studio.

It's about wrapping yourself around whatever is available β€” and climbing anyway. 🌸

My studio is one table in Hamilton, NZ. My tools are scissors and wire and paper.

And somehow β€” somehow β€” flowers like this emerge from that simple setup.

The clematis would understand. It always finds the light. So do I.

Did you know in Japan there is a concept called mono no aware β€” the bittersweet beauty of impermanence. 🌸
Cherry blossoms bloom for just two weeks. People gather under them. They picnic. They stare upward. They cry, a little, because something so beautiful cannot stay.
I made this cherry blossom branch with whatever I had on hand, just a tissue paper, in my small studio office in Hamilton, New Zealand, on a cool winter night, because I want them to stay.🌸
Not as a denial of impermanence β€” but as a quiet love letter to the things we don't want to lose.

This branch will still be blooming in your home a decade from now. 🌸

That feels like a small miracle to me. Does it to you?

In 17th century Holland, a single tulip bulb could cost more than a house. 🌷

'Tulipmania' β€” historians call it the world's first speculative bubble. People mortgaged their homes for flowers.

I understand that kind of obsession.

The tulip means perfect love. In the Ottoman Empire, it was the flower of paradise β€” painted on tiles, woven into carpets, embroidered on royal robes.

A red tulip says: I am completely yours.

I made this 🌷 bouquet in coral and pinkβ€” which says something softer: I care for you. I'm thinking of you. You deserve something beautiful today.

Wrapped in hessian. Tied with twine. Ready to be someone's forever flower. 🌷

Let me know if you'd like one made for someone you love.🌷πŸ₯°πŸŒΏ

I don't always make purple flowers 🌸 . πŸ’œ Sometimes I let the paper take me somewhere unexpected. This purple roses took me just a few hour todayβ€” and I'm completely in love with it.πŸ₯°
