✨ Vetro Cambridge is now open ✨
This one feels a little extra special.

Every project I work on starts with the client. I always try to put my clients first — to listen, understand what they’re wanting to achieve, and then do my best to turn the vision in their heads into something real.

For Vetro Cambridge, that vision was very much driven by Anna, with Daryl by her side. Anna had a clear idea of what she wanted this space to become, and it was my job as designer and coordinator to help shape those ideas, work through the details and then guide the build so that we could bring it all to life.

It certainly wasn’t a typical build, and some of what we were asking of the tradespeople was well outside the realm of their usual work. But once the vision was explained, everyone got behind it. They were willing to adapt, problem-solve, learn new things and work tirelessly to make it all come together.

And that’s the part I love most — seeing an idea that starts in a client’s head slowly become a real space that they can be proud of.

This is also the second Vetro store I’ve had the privilege of being involved with for Anna and Daryl, and being trusted to work with them again means a lot to me.

A huge thank you to Anna and Daryl for trusting me with your vision, and to all the amazing tradespeople and the team at Design Department who put so much care, patience and hard work into making it happen. ❤️

I may be the person trying to pull all the pieces together and make sure the vision stays on track, but a project like this is only possible when everyone gets behind it — and this team really did.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created together.

When it comes to choosing an exterior colour scheme for your commercial building, more often than not, you want to play it safe – especially if your building is in a designated heritage area. For the new owners of 132 Queen Street, Hastings, nothing could have been further from the truth.

One rarely has the opportunity to design an interesting and exciting colour scheme for a client. Although the process entailed obtaining a resource consent, which was accomplished in-house and by Bay Planning.

Stewart Finance Group , Wellington office. This has been a great collaboration between property owner and SFG ,

The main aim was to lower the carbon footprint.

It all started with calculating the required floor space that was needed and making sure that the surplus floorspace was suitable for a future tenant.

The next step was to design around re-using existing walls and partitions of the previous tenant.

The careful dismantling process is key to a successful outcome as all internal walls had to come out to suit the new design.

I believe that this is the way forward in the future as materials have become much more expensive but also you bypass the the supply shortage.
It definitely does take a bit more thought and creativity, but the result is very satisfying.
