Two mere that have recently left the workshop. 💚

The top mere was carved from beautiful Marsden Flower Jade, while the lower mere was carved from stunning Inanga Flower Jade. Both stones have their own unique character, colours and patterns, and no two pieces are ever quite the same.

These two have already found their homes, but I couldn't resist sharing them. Which would you choose Marsden Flower or Inanga Flower?

I personally love the soft buttery look of the Inanga 😍

There’s something special about carving from a fractured seam 💚
This Marsden flower jade toki carries all that natural movement and colour straight from the stone it came from, each pattern shaped by the way the jade formed over time.

Finally got around to carving some porohita (disc) pendants for the website 💚

The porohita (disc), meaning circle, has no beginning and no end. It symbolises the ever-flowing cycle of life and the interconnected nature of all things.

When a fantasy book inspires you to carve something in real life 📖

This weekend I went to the book event A Romantic Adventure: New Zealand Book Signing Event - Attendees in Christchurch and had the chance to meet author Helen Scheuerer.

I LOVED reading her book series - The Legends of Thezmarr & The Ashes of Thezmarr, they are the kind of books you can completely escape into for a while.. so I decided to carve something special to bring along.

Inspired by the fate stone worn by Thea in the series, I carved a pounamu pendant as a real-world version of the stone from the books. It was a small way to say thank you for creating a story and world that so many of us readers love getting lost in.

It was so awesome to meet Helen in person (and yes… there may have been a little bit of fangirling). Of course we had to get a photo together wearing our fate stones 💚💚
