1980 – The year everything changed 🔥

After building his first heater just a year earlier, Terry Young had sold five units locally in Invercargill.

Then came the Southland A&P Winter Show.

Displaying the heater at the show sparked huge interest – and by the end of the event Terry had taken 151 orders.The team was only producing one heater per week at the time so to meet the demand, we scaled up – bringing in new machinery, hiring extra staff, and lifting production to six heaters per day!

What started in a workshop behind the family home quickly became the beginning of the Yunca story — a classic example of Kiwi ingenuity, hard work, and demand for quality heating.
