Have you heard of Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust? They manage the 740-hectare Tūhaitara Coastal Park, stretching from the Waimakariri River to the Ashley River, alongside Huria Reserve — co-governed by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and Waimakariri District Council. The park holds deep cultural significance for Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and the Trust works to protect both its natural habitats and its cultural values, from native dune, wetland, and forest ecosystems to the mahinga kai and stories held within the whenua. Their small team works hard on pest control, restoration planting, biodiversity monitoring, and track maintenance — keeping the park's tracks open and thriving for walkers, cyclists, and visitors alike, while honouring what makes this place special.
We are proud to help support Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust by helping keep their equipment serviced and ready for use.
