The boys on “Southern Blue” hit the Kaikoura coast with an early start and a game plan to target Southern Bluefin Tuna! Equipped with knowledge from Marine Intel , they had the head-start on where to focus their efforts. Sure enough their homework paid off and they managed to land a decent model for the Kaikoura fishery. The lads were very knowledgeable and it was awesome to share the excitement of landing one of the best eating fish in the world.. and on our doorstep! After topping up the salt ice in the game bag, I’m sure the filleting knives will be getting a good workout. How good 💪 🔥 !!

Simon bought a Benelli M2 Pro in the lead up to opening weekend which ended up being a stunning weather window, unfortunately keeping the ducks high.

Normally a Hunting & Fishing store at this time of year has one thing on the brain… Opening weekend for the gamebird season
💥 🦆 💥 🦆!
But if you don’t know by now Kaikoura Hunting & Fishing is a one of one kind of store, and the 1st of May brings with it a season opening unique to our region. The Autumn/Winter Paua fishery re-opens!
Check out the MPI website or the NZ Fishing Rules app for all the details but sizes, quota and accumulation limits remain the same as last year.
