pov of last night’s action πŸ”₯

good signs across the bay with fish active in multiple spots. ended up landing six tamure, kept one and released five solid legal fish. way better than last month where it was mostly juveniles, so it’s mean seeing them size up a bit. no donkeys yet… but that’s fishing, they’ll come

fished three hours into the outgoing tide on the new moon. light setup with a pulley rig to punch over the breakers. bite was on straight away and stayed consistent till pack up

occy and cray doing the damage on the okuma flite surf reel rod combo and soul surf t-rex combo chur whanau 🎣

Still honing the craft, sometimes we get restaurant quality fillets and sometimes not lol depends on how well you keep the fish chilled etc after you catch them, cooler the conditions the more set the flesh will be and usually easier filleting and a sharp knife helps too πŸ”ͺ

took a gamble moving 50m to left of my usual spot for cleaner water and it paid off. outgoing tide 2 hours after high and it fired straight away. first 3 snapper over 30cm released, fish got bigger as it got darker later on kept 2 over 40cm before lightning shut it down. occy and cray did the damage. tight lines whanau 🎣 p.s dont your fingers in the gills

Off the beach, occy was the go on this mission, thankfully the bro had us as I only turned up with enough for a couple baits πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ little pickers and ky were smashing the cray and anchovies! Managed one snap with cray first cast then turned to s**t 🀣 always good to have a variety with you, you never know whats going to work 🀷

Wanting an alternative to rod tip lights? Reflective tape is the way to go whanau especially for the night shift, give yous a good indication of the overall bend in your rod, tells you if your sinkers unset and real stealthy, you could even pair it with a rod tip light and light it up like a christmas tree! Give it a go, Tight lines πŸŽ„πŸŽ£

Not the first time and probably wont be the last πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈπŸ€£ released safely lol p.s no birds were harmed in the making of this video

Ideal line lay to get those extra meters when casting! when your this far down the rabbit hole its the small things that make that make difference for sure! nice and flush thanks to the team at Hunting & Fishing NZ, Whakatane 🫑 ready to fly this weekend rain, hail or shine 🎣

Hey all you saucy tarts, any recommendations for a good condiments? love changing things up especially when you got to eat fish for breaky, smoko and dinner the next day and so on 🀣 missus got me these two sauces and im loving the sesh oil! it goes to another level when you mix them together. What do you use to spice things up and not in bed either πŸ‘€ churrr 🫳

Reel serviced and ready too roll, once i took it for a cast i was quickly reminded why its a good idea to get them checked over every once and a while, feels better then when it was new whanau! Mean reel for the price πŸ’―
