NativeZ

NativeZ We are a New Zealand company that is inspired by our unique and remarkable fauna, flora and wildlife.

New Zealand's unique and remarkable fauna and flora was the inspiration behind the creation of NativeZ - a range of soft toys and gifts that are a celebration of New Zealand native wildlife. We design and make a range of soft toys and gifts that are a celebration of New Zealand native wildlife, and we make them in our workshop in the beautiful Bay of Plenty. We are a wholesale business and sell in

April is Takahē Awareness Month.
Have you met a takahē yet?
These rare and precious birds were thought to be extinct for 50 years before being rediscovered, surviving in the high tussock lands of the Murchison Mountains.
Do you want the opportunity to see them at close quarters and learn about why they are so precious?
If so, Island DOC Rangers Talia and Keith will be feeding the takahē near the Rangers' office near the lighthouse and giving a brief talk at 1pm.

For ferry and guided walk tickets, please visit: https://www.exploregroup.co.nz/auckland/tiritiri-matangi-island/?checkavail=y&date=25-11-2022&groupSize=1&PROMO=&productId=3148&tourType=3150 #3148

Bird of the Year 2022.

BREAKING: The wrock wren wins 2022! The underbird is now the wonderbird, rocking the establishment, and the country. It's one for the history books folks!

It was a close battle all the way through with the kororā holding the most first preference votes right to the end, but the unflappable pīwauwau managed to grab the lead with most transferred votes. The hills are going to be alive tonight with the songs of the rock wrens.

The little blue penguin or kororā is the world’s smallest penguin and sadly has a conservation status of "at risk, declining". The biggest threats are dogs, predation, and road kill. They live along the shoreline (so please ignore the fern in this photo) but often cross the road to find somewhere to nest - they may waddle up to 1.5 km from the sea, and climb 300 m to find the perfect nest site!

The tīeke or saddleback is in some trouble - perhaps they are deserving of your vote for Bird of the Year? They belong to New Zealand's unique wattlebird family, an ancient group which includes the endangered kōkako and the extinct huia.

Voting ends 31 October so pop over to: https://www.birdoftheyear.org.nz/ and cast your vote.

One of our popular toys - the kereru - sitting amongst the leaves and flowers of a kōwhai tree which the real life bird loves to feast on 💕 ☀️ A great tree to plant in your back yard to attract native birds!
