For the past 5 weeks I have been in Japan. Mark and I spent 4 weeks travelling around and now I am on a 2 week textile tour with a fabulous bunch of ladies and one man. We have visited such amazing craftspeople...masters at what they do, seen stunning scenery, ate great food and seen stunning gardens. This time next week I will be back in NZ...the time has gone so quickly. Here is a photo dump of only a few of the things we have done on the tour.

With cooler days approaching, it’s the perfect time to wrap up in something cosy.
I’ve just refreshed my website (finally!) and it’s now up to date with plenty of cosy pieces to keep you warm on those crisp autumn mornings.

You’ll also find something new—hand dyed silk merino and tencel cowls, beautifully soft with a gentle drape.

Everything is available on my website or in the studio shop

I had a very busy day on one of my days off, dyeing 4 kilos of yarn. It was also raining all day...nothing worse than a wet dyeing day!
All the yarn is now on my website and in the studio shop.

Next stage of my tea towels. Now they are off the loom, I secured each edge with a zig zag stitch on my sewing machine, then cut apart and washed them. I knew there would be two that were extra long, but I think I did alright getting most of them the same length. Next stage is ironing and hemming.

Tea towels all woven. I ended up weaving 10 in all and a small sample piece to practice my hemming. All thats left to do is wash, iron and hem them. They feel lovely...the cotton boucle feels very squishy.
I had never woven from a kit before and found it really enjoyable. Of course I had to do my own designs too.
For anyone interested, Jane Stafford Textiles has a large choice of different kits for teatowels, scarves etc.

After 30+ years weaving, I have just woven my first tea towel and I love the colours. Only 8 more to go and they are all going to be different.
