Ti Kouka Gallery

Tī Kōuka Gallery is a Māori weaving co-op and art gallery located in Waitārere Beach, just north of Levin.

Ti Kouka Gallery named after, well, the ti kouka tree on the property of owner/operator Sue. Due to Sue's passion with raranga, we have been absolutely privileged to have a space to learn, share and korero, and of course, weave.

Sue really does enjoy a challenge. Just recently having woven a fishing net with harakeke. Unfortunately someone bought it before we could take a photo.

We currently have these taonga of Sue's in the gallery - shopping kete, pikau, Kete Riwai (potato basket) and waikawa (big baskets).

We are also incredibly spoilt by Grant, who is our biggest supporter. Grant makes scones for us on Saturday's. Along with Shadow, his trusty steed, they come bearing lovely warm homemade goodness.

SAT 5th Sept 2026, this contemporary rapaki will be in the gallery. Made by Sandra using 3mm and 4mm cord. These 3 colours go so well together - black, red and white.

We are excited to show you these two exquisite Rāpaki Muka. They have both been woven by Te Rangimarie and will be in our gallery tomorrow, the 22nd August, 10am until 2pm.
The gallery is situated on Waitārere BeachRoad, Levin.

Catherine has been very busy with her taniko earrings. Such an intricate skill set and waaaay too many colours to choose from....there are more in the gallery so pop in and have a sneaky peep!!!

Wow!! The start of August tomorrow. We will be open 10am - 2pm.

We are all taught the same basic raranga, with experience that can change and in time you create your own style.

This week's taonga is full of personality just like their creator, Jennie.
