Hey Hutt Valley,
I’m Marc, and I’m really proud to be the new Owner/Operator of Pak n Save Lower Hutt, and I’m excited to be here.
For the last eight years I’ve owned and operated Pak n Save Hāwera. It was a place that meant a lot to me, not just because of the store, but because of the people around it.
One thing I learnt there, and something I really believe, is that a supermarket is never just about groceries. It’s about people.
It’s about the team who turn up every day and work hard. It’s about families doing their weekly shop, parents trying to stretch the budget, kids grabbing something after school, local clubs fundraising, schools, sports teams, charities, volunteers, and all the everyday conversations that happen in and around the store.
In Hāwera, I was lucky to be part of some really special things. Supporting Kai Kitchen and the Hawera Foodbank from the early days, backing local schools, sports clubs, charities and community groups, and seeing first-hand how much good can happen when a store is properly connected to its community.
Those experiences shaped me. They reminded me that the best stores are built around people, not just products, prices, or buildings.
I also want to acknowledge Karl and Caroline, who have left Pak n Save Lower Hutt in great shape. They have clearly put a lot of care, work and pride into this store, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to build on what they’ve already created.
Now I’m looking forward to bringing that same people-first focus here to Lower Hutt. I know Lower Hutt has its own identity, its own energy, and its own community heartbeat. I’m looking forward to understanding that properly. The people, the schools, the clubs, the local groups, the families, and the things that matter most here.
My focus is simple. I want Pak n Save Lower Hutt to be a store this community feels connected to and proud of.
A store that works hard to deliver good food and fair prices and a store that backs its team. A store that supports the community around it. And a store that remembers success starts with people.
To the team already here, thank you for the welcome so far. I’m really looking forward to working alongside you.
And to the wider Lower Hutt community, thanks for having me. I’m looking forward to meeting you, listening, learning, and doing my best to play a positive part in this community.
