New product: Ginger

Ingredients: Distilled water, lye (sodium hydroxide), Olive oil, Coconut oil, Avocado oil, Rice Bran oil, Turmeric powder, fresh ginger (grated), strong ginger tea, red ginger saffron oil, dried ginger oil.

That was a wish I had for years (I can say this now) - to make my own Ginger soap! But when I decided to "copy" a recipe found on the internet, I actually changed pretty much everything. I kept only the fragrance ginger oils and the use of turmeric powder - this was especially due to the colour it gives to the soap. I used the "1-2-3-4" oil formula. It has a soft ginger fragrance, which I personally find awesome. Sale will start with the 23rd of April.

I have followed up with my conditioner... here it is... with Babassu oil, coco-caprylate and pro vitamin B5. With a bit of Jasmine oil and chromium green oxide. As it is lighter (min. 30 gr.) price is $3.00.

It is what it says it is... a shampoo with a nice lime scent. In few weeks I will prepare a hard conditioner as well!

New product: Coconut & Lime

Ingredients: Distilled water (just a bit, to start liquid lye formation), lye (sodium hydroxide), Coconut cream, Olive oil, Coconut oil, Avocado oil, Kaolin white clay, Lime oil, Desiccated coconut flakes.

Not very easy to prepare, but it is a very good soap! It has a large load of Coconut cream (almost a can!) which makes it very interesting. The lime fragrance and the desiccated coconut flakes spread on top are complementing the soap quality. I preferred to keep it natural, without adding any colour.

The first batch will be on sale starting with the 12th of March.

Amaretto 2.0

This is the same recipe as the previous Amaretto posted in October... only that I played this time mixing the two colours. This new Amaretto will be on sale from Saturday 11th of February.

New product: Amaretto

Ingredients: Distilled water, lye (sodium hydroxide), olive oil, coconut oil; grapeseed oil, sweet Almond oil, layer 1: active charcoal, cacao powder, vanilla oil, jasmine oil; layer 2: chromium green oxide, peppermint oil.

For who doesn't know, Amaretto is an Italian liqueur having a sweet-bitter taste. The smell of the soap is reminding me of Amaretto (I might be wrong as I didn't have this liqueur for almost 40 years ). It is one of the original recipes I've done over the last two years, not very easy to make (or not exactly as I wanted) as the saponification is quite rapid and I couldn't mix with a stick superficially the two layers - the soap was already too hard to try this. But smells great!

After almost 2 years since I started to make soap as a hobby, this became a small business so to speak. Currently I am selling every Sunday at Kings Plant Barn Takanini, of course if it doesn't rain, from 9am to 1:30pm. Not too much time spent there, but interfering (apart from the customers) with a cockatoo Billy, a cat named Lucky, and a turtle coming every now and then out of the water to take a sunbath.

I tried to keep the same price since when started and, despite rising supply prices and a lack of components sometimes, I managed to do so. The only exception is Chat Noir, which is more expensive to produce.

For large bars (minimum 90 grams) the sell price is $4.00, while for small bars (minimum 45 grams) is $2.00; Chat Noir is $5.00 for large bars ,and $3.00 for small bars. You can download my booklet below:

Unfortunately I had to increase my delivery costs as all Courier companies have raised their charges. At this time I can courier parcels containing up to 20 large bars (or 40 small bars) at the following prices:

- Auckland City, Courier, 2-3 days, standard - $7.00
- North Island, Courier, 3-4 days, economy - $12.00
- South Island, Courier, 3-4 days, economy - $15.00

If your address is in a rural delivery area it becomes more expensive. Please email me the address and I will come back with the rural delivery cost.

New product: Chat Noir

Ingredients: Distilled water, lye (sodium hydroxyde), olive oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, avocado oil, castor oil; Morrocan (Ghassoul) clay, cacao powder, fragrance (Amber Noir oil, lime oil).

Well, to be honest I am very proud of this soap (which is an original recipe); I always thought that my best soap so far was Castile, but this one is better! This is the first soap for which I used rice bran oil with positive results I hope. It has a fine and subtle Amber scent very delicately enhanced by the lime oil support and looks really good.

New product: Coffee Grind

Ingredients: Distilled water, lye (sodium hydroxyde), kaolin white clay, olive oil pomace, coconut oil; rubbing ingredients: coffee grind, corn meal, chia seeds, desiccated coconut, poppy seeds; fragrance (vanilla oil, vanilla extract).

I wanted to prepare for a long time a soap containing a considerable amount of rubbing materials, good for a hand wash that doesn't destroy your skin but helps in removing a lot of dirt from your hands. In a certain way this is a gardening soap. Not very easy to prepare, however, it does its job pretty well. This is my first recipe, I am trying to prepare also a much simpler soap, with less rubbing ingredients, but having a more complex oil structure..

New product: Spirulina

Ingredients: Distilled water, lye (sodium hydroxyde), coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, castor oil, grapeseed oil, lanolin liquid wax, Kaolin white clay, botanicals (Spirulina powder), fragrances (lime oil), colour (Spirulina powder), texture (n/a).

Spirulina is a wonderful natural soap colorant when (preferably) infused into one of the liquid oils for a month. Using a Spirulina infused oil will prevent any scratchy feeling from occurring in your soap that can sometimes be present when adding a powdered botanical component directly to your batch. Easy to prepare, however, does not need to gel and this means that after pouring into molds has to be kept in the fridge for at least two days. Spirulina is a natural dye but also fights skin aging and is enhancing the skin elasticity. Difficult to see in the picture, but it has a very pale green colour.
