You're not done yet.
Sticking to my style of repurpose & reuse I took what was an old unusable tool and brought it back as something functional, cool and unique using fire 🔥
I forged this fighting dagger from a very old metal file, it was worn very rusty and discarded probably being moved from boxes to shelves or who knows where until I found it. After it had been shaped at the anvil I spent some hours refining the shape and grinding in the bevels, let me tell you symetry is hard!
A few more hours shaping a brass guard with hand tools, steady as she goes because you don't want to start over, after many a fit and polish I soldered it in to create strength at the joint and prevent debris getting in the gap.
The timber handle came from the woodshed, I like to wander the riverbed after a heavy rain event and see what washes down. Its an ancient native species that grew in the Tararua range, somehow met its end and over many years has washed downstream until I picked it up. While sawing it up I saw the stunning grain running through it and decided to mill it.... feel free to drop a comment if you know what it is. Ive added some mosaic pins just to put some fine detail into it.
5mm Buffalo leather carefully patterned and cut to shape then hand stitched with a loop lock pattern makes up the sheath. Some stylish brass hardware to match the knife adds security and strength.
What a build, shes the cats meow this one....very cool, one off and functional....this isnt a prop you buy at the comic book store. As much as I want to, I cant keep them all....so this one has been sent away to a GC who's shown me kindness and generosity and I'd like to reflect that.
Note, I kept forgetting to snap pics during the process always last minute I feel I haven't done this justice.
Thanks for looking.
Work slow....dont make s**t
