Fragrance is best met in person. You will find it at 270 Maunganui Road, Monday to Saturday, 10 until 4.

Everything we choose to stock comes back to one belief: your home should make you feel something. Not impress anyone. Not photograph well. Just make an ordinary evening in it better than it would otherwise have been.

Which is why so much of what sits on our shelves is, strictly speaking, unnecessary. A candle. A stem of blossom that will never need water. A hardback you will read once and then leave out because you like the look of the spine. You could live without all of it. Your house would just feel less like yours.

We have never thought beauty should be saved for guests, or for the weekend, or for when the renovation is finally finished. Light the candle on a Tuesday. Fill the vase because the shelf looked bare. Use the good notebook.

A selection of Lisa’s work sits with us in store, among the books and the stationery. Words worth keeping somewhere you will actually see them.

Words by .

For the ones called Dad, and the ones who simply showed up and became it.

Thank you.

For the early starts and the Saturday sidelines. For fixing what’s broken without making a fuss. For belly laughs and plasters and bedtime stories in silly voices. For being the calm when everything else was loud.

You never needed the spotlight. You just kept showing up. On the floor with LEGO. At the kitchen bench, washing up. Saying yes to one more book, one more tuck-in, one more anything.

You taught us that love is not always loud, and not always wrapped in words. It is in the early alarm. The loose wheel noticed. The worried brow. The wobbly tooth. You make space for silly and space for brave.

To the dad in our home: we love the way you love. Not only when it is easy, but when it is messy and late. You are the reason this small life of ours works.

And to anyone for whom today sits differently. If you are missing someone you wish you could ring. If you are remembering a father who is no longer here. If you are carrying the absence of what you never had. If you are a father quietly doing your best. If you are still waiting, still hoping, still healing. You are not forgotten in the celebration. There is room for all of it here.

Joy, ache, memory and love can share a day.

Happy Father’s Day. For everything you do that goes unseen, we see it. And we are so grateful you are ours.

The objects we reach for most often are rarely the ones we choose most carefully. In the kitchen, least of all. Bottles get selected for what they do, then hidden beneath the sink for how they look.

The new ECOYA Kitchen Collection makes a different case.

Tahitian Lime and Grapefruit runs through the range. Bergamot, grapefruit and lime open it, damask rose and lily of the valley soften the middle, and musk, rhubarb and tea hold the base. Citrus with structure rather than citrus as an air freshener, and it stays in the room long after the bench is clear.

The Kitchen Set gathers the Hand Wash, Dish Wash and Fragranced Surface Spray on a colour matched tray, designed to sit in full view beside the sink rather than out of sight. It gifts beautifully. A first kitchen, a new house, or the person who cooks for everyone and is rarely given anything in return. Each piece is available on its own, and the one litre refills mean the bottles are kept rather than replaced.

Plant based formulations. Kerbside recyclable bottles. A surface spray that is now antibacterial. Considered where it counts, and quietly good looking while it works.

In store at 270 Maunganui Road, and online.

The whole collection in one place. Tahitian Lime and Grapefruit across Hand Wash, Dish Wash and Surface Spray, in a palette that suits the bench rather than fighting it.

450ml of Kitchen Hand Wash. Plant based, gentle on hands that are in and out of the sink all day, and it leaves citrus behind rather than that clinical soap smell.

The Fragranced Surface Spray is now antibacterial, killing 99 percent of germs. No rinsing, no residue, no harsh ingredients.

This is the point. Designed to be left out beside the board and the knife block, not shoved under the sink with everything else.

Frosted glass, soft grey, weighted properly. It feels like something you would keep rather than replace.

One litre refill pouches for the Hand Wash and Dish Wash. The bottle stays, the plastic drops, and the whole thing works out cheaper over time.

The Ecoya Fragranced Reed Diffuser is one of those little luxuries that quietly changes the mood of a room. Housed in an elegant glass jar with seven reeds and presented in a gift box, it is designed to gently fragrance your space without you having to think about it.

Choose the Mini 50ml for powder rooms, desks, wardrobes and bedside tables, or the Large 200ml for living rooms, entryways and open spaces.

Available in some of Ecoya’s most-loved fragrances, including French Pear, Lotus Flower, Sweet Pea & Jasmine, Guava & Lychee Sorbet, Vanilla & Tonka Bean, Sandalwood & Amber, and Mandarin Gin.

And the best part? Once your diffuser has finished, you do not need to replace the whole thing. Ecoya diffuser refills are also available, so you can keep using your glass vessel and simply refresh your favourite scent whenever it needs topping up.

A thoughtful housewarming gift, a beautiful finishing touch for your own home, or the easiest way to make a room feel instantly more considered.

Made to make the conversation worth remembering.

Everyday Conversations by Everyday Solitude is a beautifully simple card game designed to help you go beyond small talk and into the kinds of questions that bring people closer.

Inside the box are 50 thoughtfully crafted question cards, created through a psychology-informed lens and divided into four categories: Intimacy, Discomfort, Reflection and Courage.

You can keep it light. You can go deep. You can pull out one card over dinner, take it on a long drive, leave it on the coffee table for guests, or bring it out on a quiet night in when you want something more meaningful than another scroll.

It is designed for 2 to 6 people, making it just as lovely for couples and close friends as it is for flatmates, families, dinner parties and people you are still getting to know.

We also love that Everyday Solitude is a New Zealand-based, purpose-driven brand built around human connection and mental wellbeing, donating ten percent of profits to New Zealand mental health charities. A gift that feels good in every sense.

A thoughtful gift. A beautiful coffee table piece. A gentle way to ask better questions.

Available now in store and online at fluxboutique.co.nz.

The way a home smells is one of the most underestimated parts of a considered interior. We choose our colours, our textiles, our furniture with such intention, and yet fragrance, the first thing you register when you walk through the door, is so often left to chance.

The Ecoya Electric Wax Melter changes that quietly. No flame, no fuss. Just warmth, scent, and a room that feels exactly as it should. Paired with Ecoya Soy Wax Melts, each melt gives you up to 30 hours of fragrance from a piece that earns its place in any considered home.

Six signature fragrances to choose from:
French Pear. Clean, fresh, universally loved.
Mandarin Gin. Bright and citrus-forward with a sophisticated edge.
Sandalwood and Amber. Warm, grounding, quietly sensual.
Lotus Flower. Elegant and spa-like.
Sweet Pea and Jasmine. Soft, delicate, romantic.
Guava and Lychee Sorbet. Vibrant and uplifting.

One beautifully simple ritual for every room in your home.

The Smith & Co. range from The Aromatherapy Co is one of those quiet discoveries that tends to stay - the kind of collection you notice at someone’s place and find yourself asking about.

Tabac & Cedarwood is the dark one. Spiced orange, black suede and tanned leather, layered over to***co flower and resinous tonka, settling into a warm base of cedarwood and liquid vanilla. It smells like a room someone lives in intentionally.

Amber & Freesia is the unexpected one. Lush wild berries and blooming freesia meet jasmine, then open into a heart of warmed amber and a deep woody base. Floral and bold at once - the kind of scent that lingers without announcing itself.

Tonka & White Musk is the radiant one. Zested lemon and mandarin peel cascade over an intoxicating heart of jasmine, finished with a twist of white musk. Luminous, clean, and quietly addictive.

Across candles, diffusers, body wash, lotion, hand cream, and room spray - each fragrance carries through in full. Available in store and online now, from $19.

We believe the things we surround ourselves with matter. In a quieter, more everyday way than we’re often told. The candle that makes an ordinary afternoon feel considered. The journal that turns a habit into a ritual. The vase that catches afternoon light in a way that stops you, just for a moment to appreciate it.

Small things. But not insignificant ones.

Everything we stock passes the same test: would we bring this home? And the answer is always a resounding yes.
