New Zealand Mecates The only hand made woolen Mecates made in New Zealand using the old traditions and to the old time specifications.

We started making mecates out of a desire to find a New Zealand made mecate, using sheep wool with pre signal. The wool that we grow here, is renowned as being the best in the world. So, in the old tradition of using what is around you, we gathered up supplies and set to work. We have spent a long time improving our product and perfecting the art of making a truly balanced mecate that is very firm to hold, yet has pre-signal for the horse. We constantly seek for perfection in the making of every item. We love colours and love to mix them together in a manner that has not been done before. Coming from a Fine Arts background, painting with wool is a natural extension of artistic creativity that results in bespoke crafted mecates. We pride ourselves with being the only mecate makers in the world that uses the best sheep wool in the world. The wool is commercially prepared by one of New Zealand's leading exporters of woollen carpet. One of the top carpet manufacturers in the world. Working on getting this bog boy fit. He is for sale on Trademe and is the best boy ever. P.Johnson bred from Wairoa. I have had him since he was 8mo ths old.
I started him and he is going really well. He has never put a foot wrong. 3 years under saddle. Won heaps of ribbons at A and P show after 30 days being ridden.
