I didn't think we would get bunny pressure on our urban flower farm 😂

Our house bunny Leaf was out for a play while I was cleaning the ranunculus and he just kept beelining for my freshly planted strawberries! He's impossible to catch, so once I was done with we herded him back into his outside pen before we lost all our berries ☺️

I might need to net the strawberries earlier than planned lol. Rascal!

I have been known to assume things in life will just work out for the best and powdery mildew is not on board with that approach 😂

Powdery mildew on the flowers is not a problem from a customer perspective, the blooms are still gorgeous as ever but it does inhibit growth and mean my flower heads will be smaller and the plant will tire quicker so it's not something I want to leave.

🍄 In the past if I've seen a bit of a white dusting at the start of the season it has just worked itself out as the plants got established and for the most part that's still true with the rest of my crop but not for these Purple Jean Ranunculus so they gotta go!

I guess I'm farming now at a scale where I'm going to need to be a bit more proactive when I see the start of an issue. I am looking forward to seeing what happens though once I hack that whole bed back and give it a spray with Sodium bicarbonate. I may not get more flowers from that bed but hopefully they'll put out enough healthy leaves to get nice big corms for next year.

Are you battling mildew this year? What approach do you use? I have noticed that my corms are fine and it's only the plugs that have mildew so hmmmm wonder why that is.
