Gone Potty has a seasonal range of vege seedlings ready to take advantage of the mild spring weather: cabbages, cauliflower, kale, kohl rabi, broccoli, lettuces, beetroot, Chinese cabbage, spinach, silverbeet ... and to keep the bugs at bay; nasturtium and marigolds. Six packs $3
The first of the zucchini, tomatoes (Beefsteak) and artichokes are also ready for early birds; and there are also some strawberry and asparagus plants still left.

I have had a painfully expensive week getting my van ready for the new market season, which begins for me with the fabulous Kaikoura Hop on September 19. I am completely dependent on the van throughout the season; so anything going wrong with it has potential to seriously impact my ability to earn. I am therefore immensely grateful when I find good men who don't take advantage of my total ignorance of all things mechanical when things go wrong. I'd like to give a shout out to Spike of Spike's Mechanical Services on Vanguard St, who always does a great job at a great price. I took my latest list in yesterday and he had the lot sorted by 3 o'clock today - awesome! Spike is tucked in behind Tozetti. Next I had to go to Nelson Autoglass and the guys there were over the top helpful. It's so great to find people who rather than being all about the money still understand how to look after people. Remember these names for next time you need help, because these guys can be trusted to give it. Pass it on!

Calling garden lovers - the striking Billbergia Bromeliads 'Queen's Tears' are just starting to flower. The pretty, warm pink, blue & yellow flower contrasts beautifully with the variegated yellow-green foliage. This striking plant looks great in hanging baskets, and can even be mounted to grow in your trees - so something quite different! Gone Potty have a good number of these looking for forever homes - along with many other interesting & unusual plants for inside & out. The new season vege seedlings are responding well to the lovely warm days we have been enjoying. Still only $3 for a 6 cell.

Two old favourites, Mandarin Marmalade and Lemon Curd, are back in stock in the Richmond Park Market pantry. The addition of turmeric & black pepper has added some health benefits to the always popular Mandarin Marmalade. Turmeric helps mitigate dementia and plays a role in minimizing the pain and discomfort of arthritis; and black pepper aids in it's absorption. Of all the marmalades, the mandarin gets top marks from me for the robustness of it's flavour. The hint of turmeric also adds the vibrant colour - not that the lovely spray-free mandarins need help there!

Lemon Curd is always a treat and a real flavour of childhood for those of us lucky enough to have had Mums who were into preserving. The combination of local, spray free lemons and organic, free-range eggs have given this batch a beautiful sunrise golden colour.

A new addition to the preserves range that is sure to be a favourite for those that love the zing of citrus in the morning is the new Gin & Tonic Marmalade - just a hint of gin to lift the spirits adding to the zappy lime - happy days!

The preserves range can be found at the end of the Horticulture shed nestled among the fresh produce & baking. Something for everyone here!

The Richmond Park Market team are looking forward to running again this Saturday in conjunction with the Top of the South Motor Show. This is always a great event showcasing a superb range of cars from the days when cool was built in, located in the expansive grounds of Richmond Park. As always, loads of parking, loads of leafy green trees to cool off under, and loads to see, do & eat. Richmond Park Market will be offering $2 ice creams for the kids - big and little - to help keep you all cool too. See you there!
