HOMEBROOK ACCESS

Hi All,
Recently we have had quite a few queries about access to the Homebrook trails for both riding access and shuttling access.

RIDING ACCESS
MMBC membership is a requirement.
Homebrook is a private property and we are incredibly fortunate to be allowed access to ride.
As it is private property there is a requirement for ALL RIDERS to be a current Marlborough MTB Club member.
This ensures you are covered by our insurance.

SHUTTLE PASS - VEHICLE ACCESS PERMIT
Yes we do allow shuttling at Homebrook, but we have set very clear rules around who is eligible and who gets granted a ‘MMBC Vehicle Access Permit’.
The pass is for 1 year, from 30th June - 1st July

A couple of the rules are..

1. Applicants MUST be club members and actively assisting the club.
This can be done by helping at events, helping with dig days and/or assisting with the running of the club.

2. Drivers must be at least 25yrs old.

3. The applicant must ensure ALL riders are MMBC members.

4. Only the applicants vehicle is allowed to shuttle, you can’t allow other vehicles to also shuttle.

5. Failure to abide by the rules results in immediate loss of access.

They are strict rules but we make no apologies for it.
Vehicle access is a privilege and as we have seen in other regions, taking the access for granted and/or abuse of the privilege results in loss of access to everyone.

If you wish to apply for a permit, please contact the club.

To become a MMBC member download the Hivepass app and search Marlborough Mountain Bike Club.

“Bicycles are the ‘slow death’ of the planet,” declared an economist — and his argument exposes a bleak economic logic. A cyclist, the reasoning goes, doesn’t buy cars, take out loans, pay insurance, or spend on fuel, repairs or parking — which translates into lost revenue for industries built on consumption. Serious bike accidents are rare, so there’s less income for related services. Health-wise, frequent riders stay healthier, use hospitals and pharmacies less, and therefore generate less medical spending — again, a hit to consumption. By the same twisted logic, fast-food chains “support the economy” not only by creating jobs but by producing customers for doctors and cardiologists. The point isn’t an attack on cycling; it’s a satire of a system that treats pollution, illness and overconsumption as economic virtues while sidelining a healthy way of life.
