Every bag of Potters Clay starts with New Zealand Clay and goes through a carefully refined manufacturing process right here in our Nelson factory 🏭
From mixing and screening to pressing, pugging and packaging, every step is designed to create a consistent clay body you can rely on 🤎

From New Zealand Clay to the bag that arrives at your studio, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how every batch is made in our Nelson factory 🏭

Everything starts with quality sourced New Zealand clay 🇳🇿

The raw clay is blended with water to create a smooth, consistent mixture ready for processing

The clay is screened to remove rocks, grit and other unwanted material, helping to create a clean and consistent clay body

The refined clay is pressed into slabs, preparing it for the next stage of production

The pressed clay is loaded into the pug mill, where it is worked into a smooth, workable clay body

Each section is cut into consistent blocks, ready to be wrapped and packed ✂️

Packed and ready for delivery to studios, schools and makers across New Zealand 📦🤎

End-of-year factory close down is almost here 🎄

There’s only 2 more days left for online orders before we wrap up on Friday! Orders placed after our closedown date will be dispatched on our return Monday 12th January 😄

Huge thank you for all your support this year we are so grateful and we can’t wait to be back making clay again in the New Year!
