A quick report from our two clients who followed us on our recent trip ... One of the many highlights of our recent trip to the UK was seeing first-hand what goes into sourcing antiques for Richmond Antiques and Curios.
Sandy and I in our little Toyota tagged along behind Maria and Kathryn, and Kevin while they were on one of their recent buying trips, and it gave us a whole new appreciation for the huge effort and dedication behind their business.
The miles they covered were incredible—travelling through England, Ireland and into Europe, arranging meetings with antique dealers and collectors, always looking for unique and interesting pieces at prices that would allow their customers to enjoy them too. It wasn't a holiday; it was hard physical work, long days, careful planning and plenty of determination.
Kathryn was an amazing navigator, keeping us and even the Sat Nav on course ! Kevin tackled the endless hours of driving, and loaded, unloaded and reloaded the van to fit more and more pieces in between trips back to the container . Maria (Camp Mother) doing the hard yards too, sourcing, selecting, wrapping and rewrapping each piece. They were all incredibly generous and inclusive, and felt like family 😀
Now, when we walk through Richmond Antiques and Curios, we see so much more than beautiful antiques. We will think of the thousands of kilometres travelled, the (really really) early starts, the careful searching, the relationships they've built, and the passion and hard work behind every piece on display.
Thank Maria, Kevin and Kathryn, for letting us come along.. It was such a privilege to see the dedication and negotiations that goes into bringing such a fabulous and affordable range of treasures back to Richmond. Your customers may never see all that happens behind the scenes, but they will definetly benefit from it.We had an amazing experience from start to finish! So many unique pieces are on the way, Can't wait for the container to arrive ....

The night before the Bruges Zabdefeesten antiques fair we were lucky enough to have a couple hours to spare.

We walked around and got to visit some tasty Belgium shops and see some great buildings.

Next morning Kevin was up early at 4am to check to see if the market had begun. It had. So off we all went 5am in the morning scouring the square and beyond

Long day with some lovely finds
