We’re delighted to welcome back Kyla from Kyla’s Kreations to the Upcycled Market! 💚

Kyla creates a beautiful range of handmade and upcycled pieces, giving materials a new lease of life and turning them into something both practical and gorgeous.

I particularly love her beautiful upcycled flowers 🌸 I always like to have a few on hand as they make such a lovely gift.

And with winter definitely making itself known, Kyla’s cosy creations for little ones are sure to be popular too.

Just thought I'd share this update from the amazing Grassroots Recycling.

With 15 collection points now there is likely to be one near you!

Time for another UPDATE to our collection locations ... there are 15 in total now ... and a couple of changes to report ...
- Because of the roadworks and issues with access, we have moved the Godzillas bin along the street - now at Sublime Coffee Roasters at Bridge Street Studios, 123-125 Bridge Street, Nelson - available 8am - 3.30pm for collecting your clean cartons
- Riverside Pool now has a collection point for your clean cartons and lids - available during the pool's opening hours and located right in the entrance to the building.

♻ Remember that food & beverage cartons need to be cut open flat and washed clean.
♻ Remember also please that it is helpful if you can drop your lids to our bins already separated/sorted into the different materials, preferably in a tied off bag/container (bread bags are ideal!)
♻ The four types of lids that we collect are:
- STEEL (jam jar lids, beer bottle caps, tops of tin cans)
- ALUMINIUM (wine bottle tops)
- No 2 PLASTIC
- No 5 PLASTIC

This means NO takeaway cups, NO plastic lids with no number, NO sushi fishies, NO soft plastics, NO medicine blister packs, NO dirty or closed cartons, NO need to colour-sort your lids

We’re so pleased to welcome back Alana, one of our returning vendors at The Upcycled Market! 💚

Alana upcycles all kinds of beautiful items, creating lots of unique, decorative and wonderfully creative pieces. Her stall is always a joy to browse, with so many interesting creations to discover.

Vendor Spotlight: Welcome Back!

If you've been to one of our previous Upcycled Markets, you may remember the lovely Maz from Pip & Peanut. She's one of our original founder vendors and has been with us right from the very beginning, so we're delighted to welcome her back again! 💚

Today, though, I want to give a little shout-out to one of her wonderfully simple but incredibly useful creations: her jar openers.

Is it just me, or are jars getting harder and harder to open? Maybe it's my age... 😂

These little beauties make light work of those stubborn lids that simply refuse to budge. I was actually lucky enough to be gifted one at our last market, and I can confirm that it has already proved very useful in my kitchen!

I love it when an upcycled product isn't just pretty, but genuinely useful too. And these are exactly that.

She makes these clever jar openers, along with peg aprons and regular aprons, all from pre-loved fabrics that have been given a whole new lease of life. ♻️

I'm popping a little video below to show you the jar opener in action. It's one of those products you don't necessarily know you need until you have one!

📢 A little favour to ask from our wonderful community...

We've printed a small batch of A5 flyers (just 30!) to help spread the word about our upcoming Upcycled Market, and we're looking for a few great places to display them.

Do you have a workplace notice board, community space, local café, shop or anywhere else that welcomes event posters? Or perhaps you know somewhere relevant that might be happy to display one?

As an upcycling market, we're always mindful of waste, so we'd love to leave flyers in places where they could be put asside or returned, if possible, and be reused by simply updating the date for future markets.

If you can help, or have a suggestion, please pop a comment below or send us a message. Every little bit helps us reach more people and supports our amazing makers.
