Roof rack noise driving you insane? 😵‍💫
The right setup can make a big difference. If your current racks are making themselves known every time you hit the open road, come and talk to the team at Roof Rack Centre about a quieter option.

What are you actually putting on your roof? 👀
That’s one of the first things we’ll ask, because the right roof rack setup depends on what you need it to carry. From ladders and work gear to kayaks and everything in between, we’ll make sure your setup is fit for the job. Pop into your local Roof Rack Centre and we’ll get it sorted.

We love hearing positive feedback like this. Thank you for all the great reviews!

Most roof load problems do not happen because gear suddenly fails. Usually, there were warning signs before leaving the driveway.
Before heading off, run through these quick checks:
✓ Grab the load and give it a proper shake
If the gear moves significantly while parked, it will move even more at speed.
✓ Check strap tension
Straps should feel firm and secure, but not overtightened.
✓ Look at weight distribution
Heavy items should sit centred and balanced across the system.
✓ Check for loose accessories or mounting points
Give carriers, bike racks, kayak cradles or roof boxes a quick inspection before every trip.
✓ Think about overhang and clearance

Longer loads, garages, drive-throughs and carparks catch people out more often than you think.
The best setups are not just secure when parked. They stay secure once you add speed, wind and rough roads.

If you are ever unsure about your setup, bring it into Roof Rack Centre and we can help check it over ➡️ roofrackcentre.co.nz

If your gear still moves after you’ve tightened the straps, the issue usually isn’t the straps. A secure setup starts before you even begin tightening anything.

Here’s what matters:
• Make sure the load is sitting properly on the rack or carrier first
• Position heavier sections between the bars where possible
• Keep weight evenly distributed instead of concentrated in one spot
• Support longer loads properly so they are not relying on straps alone

Once everything is positioned correctly, tighten straps until the load is firm and secure, not crushed. Over-tightening can create pressure points, damage gear and sometimes make loads less stable rather than more stable.

A good rule: if the load relies entirely on strap tension to stay in place, the setup probably needs adjusting.
Different loads need different setups too. A kayak, bike, ladder and roof box all behave differently once you start driving. That’s why when we fit systems at Roof Rack Centre, we focus on the whole setup, not just getting gear onto the roof.
