Do you love the beautiful works of Duncan Shearer as much as we do here at Kina?

Duncan responds to the different characteristics of the clays, seeking out qualities that he enjoys when throwing pots on the slow-moving treadle wheel. His firing methods, using a wood kiln and spraying a small quantity of soda ash solution in at high temperatures, create variegated flashings and speckled glaze patterns, each one unique.

The combination of the clays and the firing process is what gives his functional work such rich surfaces.

Jo Richards Ho**er

𝑼𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒍 and 𝑹𝒆𝒆𝒇 𝑭𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒍

Jo's hand crafted ceramic sculptures celebrate the beauty of the natural world through organic forms inspired by her love and fascination with nature. She has a deep respect for the ocean and all its inhabitants, believing every living creature has its rightful place within the ecosystem, from the recesses of the coral reef to the tips of the fins of the stealthiest shark, and everything in between.

We’ve been waiting months for this moment… and finally, a new original painting by Kathryn Furniss has arrived at Kina, 𝑯𝒖𝒊𝒂 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕.

Known for her richly layered paintings that capture the colour, texture and quiet beauty of Aotearoa’s natural world, Kathryn’s work has become much loved by collectors, and her original paintings rarely stay with us for long. If you’ve been longingly awaiting an original Kathryn Furniss painting, this is your moment.

One original. Freshly arrived.

And we don’t expect it to be here for long.

Jennifer Down

𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑷𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒖 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔

Jennifer Down’s creative process is a blend of structure and spontaneity, embracing the concept of perfect imperfection. Each piece she creates is unique, often bearing subtle tool marks intentionally left as part of the finished work, small traces that speak to the hand of the maker.

We have received a gorgeous new collection of treasures by Phillipa Gee!

Phillipa incorporates a multitude of colour, pattern and texture in her work. Her love of jewellery comes from the smallness and precious nature of the materials, and enjoying that many people form an emotional attachment to the pieces.
