Scabies is a tiny mite that causes a very big itch! There have been reports of scabies around recently, so it's important to know the signs and how to treat it properly.

The main symptom to look out for is an itchy rash that mostly affects the arms, legs and torso. Have one already? See your healthcare provider so they can check for scabies or other conditions.

If scabies is confirmed, it can be easily treated with these steps:

✅ Treat it with a cream to kill the mites (pharmacies may offer subsidised advice and treatment)

✅ Treat everyone in your household at the same time

✅ Treat clothing and bedding in a hot wash or dryer; or by freezing or bagging

✅ Vacuum carpets, mats and sofas

✅ Remember to treat car seats too.

To make sure you get rid of the scabies mites completely, see more detailed info on how to treat them: http://spr.ly/6181BDeps9

For those of you who took their Buccaline course back in March, if you are currently well and haven’t been struck down with the cold and flu’s doing the rounds at the moment heres a timely reminder to take your second course to cover you for the rest of winter.

Suitable for all the family, young and old, one 3 day course gives up to 3 months protection. Buccaline can be taken at the beginning, and again in the middle, of the cold season. If you haven’t had your first course yet its not too late - you won’t regret it. Talk to our Pharmacist to see if this medicine is right for you.

Buccaline works by powering your immunity strength. Its natural bacterial antigens stimulate the bodys lymphocytes (your first line of defence against colds) so if you are affected by a cold your immunity is in a much stronger condition to fight off serious bacterial complications.

Are you using your inhaler correctly?

Even small changes in how you use your inhaler can affect how much medicine reaches your lungs. Using your inhaler correctly can help your medicine work better and support better asthma control.

Explore our inhaler device guides here https://healthify.nz/medicines-a-z/i/inhaler-devices/

Or book a free appointment with Asthma New Zealand for support with your asthma, inhaler technique or action plan.

For pharmacists, winter is one of our busiest seasons. As soon as the temperatures drop, the sniffles, sore throats, coughs, and blocked noses start arriving at the pharmacy counter in waves. The good news is that many winter coughs and colds can be managed effectively with over-the-counter treatmen

Left on our counter after 1.00 we think. Let us know if you are missing it. Please bring in some proof of ownership☺️
