It all begins with a flower!

🍫Chocolate and 🌸Flowers go together.

These teeny tiny adorable pink and white flowers emerge from the trunk of the cacao tree ‘Theobroma cacao’. It’s estimated that only one in 400-500 flowers will produce fruit, cacao pods, and only 10-30% of pods reach maturity.

Make Mother’s Day & every day, a special remembrance of all the Women – farmers, suppliers, producers, creators, customers…for you are all at the heart 💓 of what we do and make. Thank you!!!

We see this taking shape each day, through knowing our food supply chain. We recognise the change makers and leaders, our sisters in the pacific - the women and girls and their communities, that are cultivating economic and regenerative, sustainable, naturally organic cacao. 🍫TODAY IS WORLD CHOCOLATE DAY 🍫
Why Celebrate 7th of July?
It is thought that on this day in 1550 that cacao first arrived in Europe in large quantities.

Some reports suggest that Christopher Columbus may have introduced cacao to Spain as early as 1504. For centuries afterward, however, it remained a luxury reserved for the aristocracy before gradually becoming accessible and eventually filling supermarket shelves.

Despite the widespread availability of manufactured chocolate and cocoa products today, the irony remains: many cacao-growing nations rarely get to enjoy the fruits of their own labour.

The beans that make our luxury chocolates often fail to provide a sustainable livelihood for farming families. Child labour and poverty remain deeply entrenched in the industry. The story of chocolate, steeped in control and exploitation, continues to unfold, even today.

What are our hopes?
Consumers hold real power to help dismantle the injustices of the global food industry. By choosing chocolate made from cacao sourced through ethical supply and grown in sustainable, respectful environments, we can begin to shift the story. Know the grower, the producer, meet the maker. Transparency is the first step - check the labels, read the ingredient lists, ask where your chocolate comes from.

The most powerful way to support cacao-growing communities to truly thrive, and to support your own wellbeing, is to choose cacao and chocolate from the most transparent and traceable source possible. Every mindful purchase becomes part of a more just, nourishing future.
