⚠️❄️🌧️ A warning to farmers operating at higher elevation south of and including Mid Canterbury, we are looking at the potential for a significant warm advection snow event from Wednesday.

A series of fronts ahead of an approaching low are now beginning to impact the West Coast of the South Island with persistent rain likely to persist for the West Coast mountains and Divide until Friday or Saturday. Very significant rainfall totals are expected for this event - spill over rain is expected and may be significant in some places closer to the divide.

There is significant uncertainty into how low snow will fall, where it will be the heaviest and the same goes for the rainfall for this event - dependent on the final track of the incoming low pressure system.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for the ranges of the West Coast in terms of heavy rain, with an update to be made on Tuesday morning with new additions possible.
