I’m hooked on crochet at the moment. This is my latest project on the hook - still lots to do on it but loving the process. Pattern is from Ravelry - Cherry Blossom Sweater. Best thing is it crocheted from the neck down so it is easy to adjust for length on body and sleeves. I’m using Broadway Hand Dyed Merino - colour is Hidden Sanctuary

Looks like another cold wind heading our way

❄️Another southwest change, snow flurries to 100-200m - minor accumulations ❄️

Good afternoon everyone - a sharp, cold southwest change is expected down south tomorrow, bringing a period of colder air, showers and snow flurries to only 100-200 metres for a time.

This is not expected to be a significant event, with snow accumulations relatively minor in part because the coldest air arrives after the band of more persistent showers pushes northward.

Southland, Clutha and Dunedin can expect a period of rain followed by showers on Monday morning and afternoon, with snow initially at higher levels but lowering in the afternoon but especially from evening. More information, free of charge, link in comments.

Showers more isolated about Central Otago.

Chain showers develop for Banks Peninsula, with snow lowering to 200-300 metres on Monday evening. A few showers may make it further west into the Port Hills with a lower risk for Christchurch City. Conditions ease on Tuesday for all.

Significant overnight frosts are expected following the clearance.

Looks like we are in for a chilly weekend.

Hazardous Winter Weather down south on Friday

A very cold and strong southwest flow on Friday is forecast to bring snow to the higher hills down south along with the risk of Significant wind chills in exposed places.

Those exposed to south and southwest winds need to take caution, with sub zero wind chills expected for most of the South Island by midnight and into the overnight hours, some elevated locations may see wind chills -7 or -8.

Conditions do ease back on Saturday, however overnight frosts then become something to keep an eye on.

Southland, Fiordland, Otago, Southern Lakes and the Canterbury High Country incl Mackenzie District have active SnowCasts, link in comments.

This throw in the window is a Bonnie Bay Crochet pattern - Celtic Sampler Throw. I used Ashford Triple (12ply) wool, I learnt new stitches and loved doing the different cables. Such a great project to do at this time of the year - keeping your knees and legs warm. Was a favourite with the cats at home to sit on or snuggle under.
