Summer is slowly coming to an end for our bees.

This week Stefan and his dad collected the last of the honey from our hives. Watching them work together is exactly why we called it Little Hands Honey.

For us this has always been a family affair. The kids grow up around the bees, the hives, and the rhythm of the seasons.

Every jar tells the story of a place, a flower, and a moment in time.

And this year we have a few surprises coming.

A brand new type of honey and something else that many health experts consider one of nature’s most nutritionally complete whole foods. It has been studied for decades and is known for boosting energy and supporting the immune system.

But that is not the most interesting part.

There are some surprising benefits most people have never heard about.

Can you guess what it is?

We will be sharing more very soon.

In the meantime you can find our honey online and every Sunday at the Pāpāmoa Community Market.

From our family to yours
Little Hands Honey 🍯🐝

Honey looks simple.
But there is a lot more to it than most people realise.

To meet demand, much of the honey sold today is heavily filtered and overheated.
Sometimes it is blended or stretched with syrups to increase supply.

When honey is processed that way, it loses what makes it special in the first place.
The enzymes.
The pollen.
The subtle flavours.
The connection to a specific place.

Real honey tells a story.
Of a season.
Of local flowers.
Of bees doing what they have done for thousands of years.

At Little Hands Honey, we keep things simple.
Small batch harvests.
Minimal handling.
No blending.

Just honey as the bees made it.

Because once you taste the real thing, it is hard to go back.

If you would like to learn more about bees, real honey, and why where your food comes from truly matters, follow along here.

Honey is one of the most altered foods in the world.
Not because bees change it, but because people do.

To meet demand, a lot of honey is heated and ultra filtered.
In the process, pollen, enzymes, and much of the natural character are removed.

Real honey is not meant to be uniform.
It is meant to change.
It reflects the land, the flowers, the season, and the bees that made it.

That is why raw honey can vary in colour, texture, and taste.
It is not a flaw.
It is a sign it has not been over handled.

This year, we want to share a little more here and talk more openly about our honey.
We want people to understand what real honey is and why it looks and behaves the way it does.

That is also why we mostly sell at markets.
So we can meet you, talk to you, and answer your questions in person.
And for those who buy online, you can always email us directly if you have questions.

When you know your beekeeper, you know your honey.

✨ A little Christmas magic to share ✨

This week our frienda at Eleventh-hr have kicked off their 12 Weeks of Christmas giveaways and I’m so honoured that Little Hands Honey is part of Week 1 💛

One lucky winner will get to enjoy one of my favourite festive pairings:
🍯 A jar of our Vanilla Infused Tawari Honey
🕯 A large beeswax candle, hand-poured by Eleventh Hour Collection using our very own bees’ wax

I still find it so special to see our honey and beeswax being loved in different ways. It’s such a joy to work with other local creatives who pour their heart into what they do.

If you’d like to enter, just pop over to Eleventh Hour Collection’s page and follow the steps on their giveaway post. Entries close this Sunday at 4pm, and the winner will be announced at 5pm. Pickup is in Papamoa.

Good luck — and thank you, as always, for supporting local. Together we make Christmas shine a little brighter ✨

✨ Something special happens when makers come together ✨

Our Little Hands beeswax has found a new life in the hands of the talented Helen from Eleventh-hr who’s crafting the most beautiful candles. Each one is poured with care, shaped with creativity, and carries the natural golden glow of our beeswax.

We love seeing how something our bees worked so hard to create can become a piece of art that lights up a home. This is what local collaboration is all about – supporting one another, creating with purpose, and bringing more beauty into our community.

If you haven’t already, make sure you check out Eleventh Hour Collection’s stunning work, and of course come see us every Sunday at the Pāpāmoa Community Market, 8.30am to 1pm, at Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa School. You’ll find our honey, our beeswax, and all the goodness the bees have been busy with.

From hive to heart, thank you for supporting local. 💛🐝

🍯✨ From the hive, with love ✨🍯

There’s something truly magical about Comb Honey. It’s honey in its purest form — built by the bees themselves, cell by cell, ours comes directly on the wooden frame. No machines, no filters, no hands in between. Just the bees’ hard work and nature’s perfection.

Every hexagon you see has been carefully crafted by our little workers, filled with golden nectar, and sealed with wax to keep it fresh. When you bite into it, you’re not just tasting honey — you’re experiencing the hive exactly as the bees created it.

Our comb honey comes in big, generous pieces this year, but it’s also very limited. You won’t find it on our website — it’s only available at the Pāpāmoa Community Market or by special order. Once it’s gone, it’s gone until the bees gift us more.

Enjoy it on warm buttery toast, paired with cheese and fruit on a platter, or simply as it is — chewy, sweet, and straight from nature.

This is honey at its most honest. And we feel proud to be able to share it with you. 🐝💛

📍 Find us this Sunday at Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa School, 8.30am – 1.00pm.

Now this is a post worth sharing 🥰.

“The bee is more honored than other animals, not because she labors, but because she labors for others.”— Saint John Chrysostom

We weren’t going to share this.
But after sleeping on it, we felt that maybe… just maybe… it’s exactly the kind of story worth sharing.

Yesterday at the market, a customer named James bought a large amount of fresh fruit and produce from Frenchs Farm—not for himself, but to donate to the Pataka Kai box at Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa School, where anyone in the community can take what they need, no questions asked.

When Frenchs Farm found out what the food was for, they did what people with big hearts do:
They gave him a discount. Quietly, kindly, without fanfare.

We didn’t want to post this because it’s not about making a show of generosity.
But we do hope it reminds someone out there of how powerful small acts of kindness can be.
That one thoughtful choice can ripple further than we see.

This market… it has a way of bringing out the best in people.
And in times when the world can feel a little cold, stories like this help us all hold onto something warmer.

Thank you, James. Thank you, French’s Farm . And thank you to everyone who shows up with quiet kindness.

Wishing you all a great week ahead!
