Starting in August, we’re carving out time to work on our strategy for a more sustainable Seaside Skates.
To that end, we’re temporarily trimming our retail hours so we can focus on what’s ahead, build new skills, and make the right decisions to see us through. It’s our 5th Birthday this year - a milestone we’re proud of! We couldn’t have done it without you, and we want to be around for at least another 5. We’ve got some work to do!

Starting August 1st, our hours are as follows:
Tuesday temporarily closed
Wednesday temporarily closed
Thursday 12 - 5
Friday 12 - 5
Saturday 10 - 4
Our online order fulfilment schedule will remain the same - we’ll ship out orders Tuesday - Friday.

Drumroll, please!!

Announcing the winner of our DIY Skatepark contest.

Ben Bergstrom blew us (and our mates at Bay Skate Napier, New Zealand ) away with his entry! Ben, you are the winner of an Envy Scooters finger scooter, plus cool merch from BaySkate!
We also loved the effort put forward by siobhan.scoots ! Siobhan, we’re sending Seaside merch and a set of Posca pens to fuel that creative fire!

Our stock of Angelus paints, dyes and leather care products is running LOW. We’re well overdue for a restock and just heard our shipment is due to land second week of August!

Artist-in-residence, Astrid, has added a bunch of new colours! If you’re keen to preorder, hit us up - surely it’s better to have us reserve your goodies than to keep refreshing the site!

Once upon a time we thought we might dip our toes into the artistic skating space. We get requests all the time (so many visits during term break!!) but unless we have someone on staff, who is actively involved with the sport, it’s difficult to meet the needs of skaters. We’re known for our depth of knowledge, not our breadth - it’s time to move these on and focus on what we know! In the meantime, shine on, you lovely dancers and snap up these wheels!

And if you’re a Roll Line fan, keep your eyes peeled - your great wheel steal is up next!

I know we’re not supposed to have favourites, but I’m human! I DO have favourites and for me, my Chuffed Skates ARE it! Comfortable right out the box, lots of room in the toe box - you will not be tempting the bunion goddess with these boots. My Chuffed Skates are the cutest, my Blue Vipers are going on 5 years old and just keep on trucking!

We own a skate shop, we like to test gear - it’s like, an occupational responsibility - we want to know how long stuff lasts, how it wears, how one brand stacks up against another. So, we’ve got more than a couple of pairs of skates each - but let me tell ‘ya, I reach for my Chuffed pretty much every time! They don’t have a zillion eyelets, so they lace up quick, they come in cute colours, the suede gets a nice patina over time - also we love that Chuffed is 💯 skater-owned, provide great gear for community groups, donate a nice portion of their proceeds to not-for-profits, make sure the factories they work with are ethical, free from child labour.

Once again we're partnering with Ngā Wira Iti to throw a Roller Disco, this time to celebrate Matariki!

Like our Pride Disco held back in March, the proceeds of this Disco will be donated to Team New Zealand Junior Roller Derby.

Held on Saturday 18th July at the Kilbirnie Recreation Centre, from 6-8pm. Admittance 16+

Come along for a night of fun and skate to some tunes under the disco lights. Refreshments will also be available.

$15 Entry fee. Either bring your own skates, or hire a pair through the venue for $4.60!

Limited tickets available, so get in quick!
