The โHuge Vegan Surveyโ invites vegans and plant-based people from around the world to take part in what is being described as the most comprehensive survey of its kind to date
The โHuge Vegan Surveyโ, a new free global study about what makes people become and stay vegan or plant-based, is now live online and open to anyone aged 18 or over who identifies as vegan, plant-based, or with similar labels. Participants from anywhere in the world who can understand written English can complete the questionnaire on a computer or smartphone, and it takes as little as 10 minutes (although it may take longer depending on how much detail is provided).
The adjective โhugeโ has been added to its name because of how comprehensive it is (covering an unusually wide range of topics related to veganism and plant-based living) and because it aims to gather one of the largest international samples ever collected in this field.
Unlike many previous surveys run by organisations or companies, this study is being conducted by an independent researcher, the UK-based vegan zoologist and author Jordi Casamitjana, with a strong emphasis on privacy and objectivity. The survey is fully anonymous, does not require registration, and does not collect emails or personal identifying information, a notable departure from many organisation-led questionnaires.
According to Casamitjana, the project has been carefully designed to address methodological limitations identified in earlier studies and to produce more reliable and robust insights into the vegan and plant-based community. Issues such as what attracted people to veganism, what makes people stay vegan for longer, and how the transition process unfolded (all key to understanding vegan outreach and to design strategies to increase the size of vegan communities) will be studied with this survey, among others.
Participants are encouraged not only to take part but also to share the survey with friends, networks, and online communities, helping to expand its reach and ensure diverse representation across different countries and backgrounds.
With its global scope, anonymous design, and ambition to improve research standards, the Huge Vegan Survey offers a unique opportunity for individuals to contribute to a clearer and more accurate understanding of this growing global movement.
The survey is now open to adult responders and can be accessed from this link and QR code:
